CGBG is a tobacco-free University of Georgia property. No smoking, chewing tobacco or e-cigarettes allowed outdoors or in buildings. No pets allowed at December Nights & Holiday Lights.

December Nights & Holiday Lights encompasses at least six acres from the new Visitor’s Center to our Rose Garden, Orchid House, Crapemyrtle Allee, White Garden and beyond! Note: Rain will cause illuminated displays to fail, so there may be cancellations or early closings based on the weather forecast. It’s best to come out during a stretch of fair weather rather than wait until the last few nights (the last two years rain prompted closures on Christmas Eve).

The majority of the Holiday Lights experience is stroller and wheelchair friendly (there are two lawn areas illuminated). For the enjoyment and safety of all around the illuminated displays, please no flash photography.

Spirited music also fills the air, sometimes with live performances by local vocal or instrumental groups in the Great Hall of the Visitors Center. Visit with Santa Claus and take photos from 7 to 8 p on Saturday evenings (November 28, December 5, 12 and 19) in the gazebo of the Cottage Garden. Mrs. Claus will stop by to lead a storytime for kids on Saturday, December 19 and Wednesday, December 23, both at 7 pm at Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen in the Annex.

Stop by Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen for sweet snacks. Local 4-H groups or other non-profits will have goodies and hot drinks for purchase (and all proceeds go to their various programs).

The story is based upon the fairy tale, Cinderella, particularly the French version Cendrillon, ou la Petite Pantoufle de Verre, by Charles Perrault. The story concerns a young woman forced into a life of servitude by her cruel stepmother, who dreams of a better life. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella is transformed into an elegant young lady and is able to attend the ball to meet her Prince, but, in this version, she must open the Prince’s eyes to the injustice in his kingdom.

It’s called Moms In Training, inspired by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) premier fundraising campaign, Team In Training.

Moms In Training meets the needs of today’s busy moms. It’s a flexible 8-10-week workout program where moms come together to get in shape while raising funds for cancer treatments.

Once training is completed, you will have the opportunity to complete 3.1 mile walk or run at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah 5K with family, friends and neighbors cheering you on! If you would like complete an event that is a longer distance, there’s Team In Training, which will prepare you for marathons (26.2 miles), half marathons (13.1), triathlons and hike events. To learn more, watch the Moms In Training video https://bitly.com/momsvideo.

Here’s what Moms In Training will do for you:

Get in shape and reach personal goals

Flexible workout schedules

Meet other moms in your communities

Create social networking groups

Help each other with training and fundraising

Attend events throughout the season for you and your family

Here’s what you will do for cancer patients:

Help save lives

Raise funds for cancer research

Contribute to the LLS goal of a world without blood cancers.

Proof that fundraising programs like Moms In Training work are reflected in the fact that in 1960 only 3% of all children with a blood cancer survived. Today, thanks to funds raised by moms like you, it’s a 90% survival rate. But we need to continue working to find cures and ensure access to treatments not someday, but today.

Join us and other moms in your community. Get In Shape. Meet Moms. Fight Cancer.

Sensory Soft Sunday for children with autism Savannah Savannah Children’s Museum will continue to host Sensory Soft Sunday as a unique offering for families with children who have special needs. Savannah Children’s Museum will open from 9-11am on Nov. 15 and Dec. 13 to provide these families an opportunity to make connections while enjoying SCM’s many exhibits in a sensory friendly way.

Through discussions with the special needs community, Savannah Children’s Museum discovered that there are few offerings of this kind in the region. Museum staff feel it is especially important to provide all children, regardless of age or ability, an opportunity to experience all that Savannah Children’s Museum has to offer.

The goal of Sensory Soft Sunday: provide an exclusive time period for the families of children with special needs in order to reduce anxiety and overstimulation that can occur when the museum is open to the general public. The trains at Georgia State Railroad Museum, our adjacent facility, will not operate during this exclusive time period, to eliminate the sound of whistles.

To promote a calm atmosphere, the number of attendees is limited. The staffing, however, is not reduced so families may have increased staff interaction as desired or needed. A designated ‘quiet zone’ is located in the orange caboose at Savannah Children’s Museum.

Pre-registration for Sensory Soft Sunday is required and payment is due upon arrival. To register, email Liz Stratford at Lstratford@chsgeorgia.org.

Cost: $7.50 per person over 18 months, free for Coastal Heritage Society Members
Time: 9am-11am on the following Sundays: Sept. 20, Oct. 18, Nov. 15, Dec. 13
Location: Savannah Children’s Museum 655 Louisville Rd. Savannah, GA 31401
