The lighted parade starts at 5:30PM Dec. 5 on the west end of River Street and will travel throughout downtown, ending in City Market.

This year’s parade will have over 40 community groups and businesses with multiple units of decorated cars, trucks, floats, and trolleys. Even the walking groups are wrapped in Christmas lights.

Join the Society of Women Engineers for the Brain & Brawn 5K and 5K Challenge.

If you don’t want to just run the 5K, sign up for the 5K Challenge to put your brain and your legs to the test. Each participant must complete 6 STEM related challenges along the course. Medals awarded to the top finishers and top in age groups for the 5K and 5K Challenge.

There will be a raffle, which will be conducted during the awards for the 5K Challenge, following completion of the race. You do not have to be present to win and is not limited to race participants. Raffle tickets are $5 and will be available for purchase with your registration, at packet picket, on race day, or through the race coordinator. Raffle prizes will be raffled off as separate packages.

Holiday Evening Tours by Candlelight @ Davenport House Museum, Savannah will be offered Dec. 26-30 2015, 6-8:30PM.

The house museum will be open for evening tours exploring the December celebrations of the early 19th century inhabitants of the fine brick home on Columbia Square.

Topics will include the meaning of the season, feasting, the Scottish influence on the family, festive attire, treatment of household slaves during holiday time, etc.

The Dining Room table will be set for an intimate adult meal for the New Year’s Day celebration and the Drawing Room will be set as if preparing for a dance. Conversations will spotlight music and festive treats including cakes, jellies and syllabub.

Docents will don authentic early 19th century costume.

A demonstration of early 19th century dance will end the program each evening

The experience requires that guests be able to walk up and down stairs and maneuver in the candlelit rooms.

“Before the Storm” at Fort McAllister State Park in Richmond Hill just outside Savannah this Sat. Nov. 14 2015.

Fort McAllister, a 1,725-acre Georgia state historic park, will host “Before the Storm,” a living history program.

This is the perfect chance to see life as a Civil War soldier. Step back in time to 1864, a time when Georgia was in great peril. This program features soldiers preparing for the invading armies of General Sherman, who attacked the fort on December 13, 1864.

They will be firing their muskets and the cannon throughout the weekend. Walk among the soldiers as they go about their preparations and drills.

Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic School welcomes your student to come and “shadow” another student for the day. Your student will attend classes and see what it would be like to be a part of the St. Peter’s family. Please call the school office at 912-897-5224 to arrange a date for your student shadow.

Jepson Jingle Tree Lighting

Telfair Museums is pleased to announce the third annual tree lighting at the Jepson Center in Savannah.

Libbie Summers, celebrity author and lifestyle expert, will partner with the museum to create a holiday tree inspired by the exhibition Monet and American Impressionism.

Guests will enjoy music from the Savannah Children’s Choir, view the current exhibitions, and partake in refreshments as we light the tree and kick off the holiday season.
