Your baby was just diagnosed with a positional skull deformity. Now what?
Positional skull deformities can be caused by various reasons, such as conditions in the womb, prematurity, sleeping position or overuse of carriers. The great news is that there are treatment options available. After consulting with your pediatrician, you may be referred to a craniofacial specialist, such as the team at Pediatrix® Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of Savannah, which offers a cranial remolding orthosis (helmet therapy) program. The program includes Pediatrix clinicians who create custom-made cranial-remolding helmets using FDA-approved STARscannerTM and SmartSoc® technology. During the course of treatment, the helmets provide a comfortable fit for your baby while allowing the skull to grow and reshape.

On New Year’s Eve Day, we went on Outside Hilton Head’s Savannah Port Tour and were blown away by the vast amount that we saw and learned. It’s a 1.5 hour boat tour that leaves from The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa dock on Hutchinson Island and is offered year-round.
Despite having lived in Savannah for more than four decades, I am embarrassed to to admit that I knew little about all that goes at Port or Savannah, the nations largest port in volume – just upriver from Savannah’s Historic Riverfront.
Our captain USCG Boat Captain Peter Pearson shared his considerable experience to provide insight on how the Georgia Port Authority works. The tour also included Savannah history and a look into what a huge influence our port has.
A tour for all ages, you get up close to those colossal container ships and leave with a renewed appreciation of where we live.
So thankful that Outside Hilton Head offers this peek into one of Savannah’s treasures.
