The Research Center will have a variety of unique artifacts on display relating to Colonial Georgia and the U.S. Constitution. These one-of-a-kind materials tell the story of Georgia’s role in the founding of our nation.

The items on display will include the Abraham Baldwin draft copy of Constitution. Abraham Baldwin’s draft copy of the United States Constitution is one of the national treasures of the Georgia Historical Society collection. This document is one of only a few still in existence and includes handwritten margin notes made by Baldwin, one of the Georgia signers of the Constitution of 1787.

Pelvic Health & Wellness Program

Your pelvic floor muscles are very important.  They support your internal organs, give you urinary and fecal continence, and help to stabilize your core.  So why don’t we hear about exercise programs for the pelvic floor? Just like your other muscles, you need to work on getting them stronger.

Let’s use our bicep muscle as an example.  When you bend your arm, your bicep muscle has to contract (or shorten) and this will lift your arm.  If you couldn’t lift your arm or you had pain, you’d be very concerned, right?

Can your pelvic floor muscles contract through their full range of motion?  Are you leaking urine or having pain in your pelvic region? It could mean your pelvic floor muscles might not be strong enough or you might not be firing them properly.  As a pelvic floor therapist, I can examine you and teach you the proper way to fire your pelvic floor muscles.

Besides being able to contract a muscle, you also have to be able to relax it.  Going back to the bicep muscle example, for you to be able to straighten your elbow all of the way, the bicep muscle has to relax.  If there are any tight parts in the bicep muscle, it may hurt to straighten your arm or it may feel tight. These restrictions can lead to pain, altered movement, and further dysfunction.   

Your pelvic floor muscles are just like any other muscle in your body.  They have to be able to fully contract and fully relax. The overall tone and mobility of the muscles cannot be hindered or this could lead to dysfunction (i.e. urinary incontinence, urge incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, etc.).

At your first visit to Optim Therapy’s Pelvic Health & Wellness Program, I’ll meet with you for an evaluation in a private, closed-door environment. We’ll talk one-on-one and go over all your treatment options.

The Children’s School @ St. John’s Church in Savannah is now accepting applications for the 2018-19 school year for children ages 12 months through 5 years.

The Children’s School is a non-profit organization dedicated to the social,spiritual and intellectual needs of young children.

2, 3, and 5-day week programs, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The school’s teachers believe that each child should develop spiritually, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in order to be a well-rounded individual. The primary goal of the school is to develop children who are confident, motivated, creative, and eager to learn.

School’s Curriculum

The curriculum is designed to develop a foundation for future learning. The program recognizes the individual growth and development of each child and provides stimulating and challenging activities that enhance fine and gross motor skills. The Children’s School strives to create an atmosphere of excitement for learning in a carefully structured, yet relaxed and safe environment. Chapel, music, art, science and physical education are a part of the program each week. Social skills are emphasized throughout the program.

Pottery Summer Camp @ Savannah’s Clay Spot includes a special Preschool Week  Aug. 13-17 2018 FOR AGES 3-5.

Crowned Elite Athletics offers a wide variety of classes including tumbling, flight, coed stunting, jumps and flexibility in their Savannah gym.

Tumbling and stunting are a huge aspects of cheerleading, especially at the competitive level (High/Middle School & All-Star).

These classes are also a great way to get started with competitive, game day and other types of cheerleading. These classes also a great way to build self confidence, body control, and physical fitness.

Crowned Elite Athletics offers a variety of classes for children age 4 and older, ranging from very basic to advanced levels.

Work with Crowned Elite’s amazing staff of former all star and collegiate cheerleaders, along with several gymnastic coaches, to learn the skills necessary to progress to the next level. Crowned Elite’s tumbling coaches are USASF Certified Levels 1-5.
