Frogwarts: A Magical Adventure is back!

Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum will transform into a magical Harry Potter-themed experience during “Frogwarts” on Sunday, Nov. 14 from 11AM-3PM.

This year’s classes will include Wand Making, Potions, Fortune Telling, Defense Against the Dark Arts: Glow in the Dark Fun!, Care of Magical Creatures with Georgia Reptile Society, Quill Writing, Herbology, Muggle Studies and Quidditch. Attendees can also take a ride on our diesel locomotive, the Frogwarts Express or visit Gringotts Wizarding Bank.

Some CHS community partners will also be leading workshops, including Memorial Health Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital leading aromatherapy and Herbology activities, Front Porch Improv performing some Harry Potter-themed skits, Dogwood Pediatric Dentistry sharing the art of Charms, The Lowcountry Turners will be creating unique wooden wands and Leopold’s Ice Cream will be on-site serving Harry Potter inspired sweet treats.

This event is $12 for all participants, ages eighteen months and older.

Pre-registration is required. Pre-register online here.

Centered around Oatland’s 1800’s Heritage Homesite, history comes alive with old-time music, demonstrations and cane-boiling. See how “it was back then” amidst the sights and sounds of an old-fashioned fall gathering.​

Children young and old will enjoy social distance conscious demonstrations, take home crafts, live music and other fun presentations as you venture back through history.​

Festival includes a ceremonial parade procession and musket firing salute to honor the soldiers whose graves are marked at our historic cemetery.

Green Truck is celebrating the return of their full menu and full service dining inside and out.

The celebration from noon-4PM this Sat. Nov. 13 will feature outdoor children’s activities, live music, and local vendors. GTP is re-re-debuting favorite menu items including the HOT HAM & SWISS Sandwich, GREEK SALADS, and MORE. Loop It Up Savannah, the Savannah Urban Garden Alliance (SUGA), Deep, and Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) are partnering with Green Truck for the event. GTP is matching donations to these organizations in support of the School Garden Program.

The School Garden program includes gardening, farm visits, nutrition, local produce samples, and educational activities. School garden activities encourage healthy eating, teach the fundamentals of good nutrition, connect children to the concept of growing seasons, promote healthy outdoor physical activity, and offer students the chance to participate in environmentally meaningful activity.

2021 KiDS Rock Savannah is happening!

Online registration is now open for 2021 KiDS Rock Savannah 2:30PM Sun. Nov. 7 2021 @ Daffin Park in Savannah. Children ages 1-17 are invited to participate.

New this year: a toddler race for kids ages 1 year-3years. The race distance is 80ft for the toddlers. There will also be a 1/2 mile (ages 3-8) or one mile (ages 5-17).

Each participant gets a t-shirt, medal, bag and racing bib.

Toddler Tuesdays nature program @ Oatland Island Wildlife Center in Savannah

Toddler Tuesday is a program for 1-4 year old children and their caregivers that focuses on one of Oatland’s animals, or a relevant nature theme. The program  includes: singing, fingerplay, a story, an encounter with one of our animals, and a take-home craft.

UPDATE: Cost for the program is $5 for children and $5 for adults.

Registration is required and there are a limited number of spaces so reserve early.

Registration is made online, but the program fees will be paid at the front booth on the day of, and not in advance, so please, if you know you won’t make your reservation, please call and cancel so organizers can open the space for someone on the waitlist.

Spaces are first come first serve and we’re encouraging creativity in your space. Decorate, make games, or feel free to sit in a chair with a bowl of candy and see lots of cute costumes.

Skidaway Island State Park’s Trunk or Treat 2021 will include outdoor activities/carnival-style games (1 – 4:30PM), a dog costume parade with an award for best costume, a pumpkin carving contest, kids’ pumpkin coloring, Trunk-or-Treat (4:30-6:30PM), and an outdoor Halloween-themed film the entire family can enjoy.

Bring the kids to Risen Savior’s Pumpkin Patch in Pooler, which is designed to be a quality and safe fall activity for your family to enjoy.

Proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch go to the Navajo Indian Reservation in Farmington, New Mexico (This is also where the pumpkins come from, employing 700 Native Americans and making positive and lasting impact on a region with 42% unemployment); Risen Savior Christian Academy and Risen Savior’s youth conference travel expenses.

Pumpkin Patch 2021: Sat. Oct. 16 through Sun. Oct. 31, 11AM-7PM (weekdays); Noon-7PM (weekends).

Wormsloe Historic Site – Savannah
Come help find Noble Jones, he has lost all of his Noble Bones. Every Saturday in October, Wormsloe State Historic Site will be holding a spooky scavenger hunt. It gives families a perfect way to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful natural and cultural resources here at Wormsloe while having some fun. $2.50 – $10 912-353-3023.

Colonial Sailors with Captain Knotbeard

Come join Captain Knotbeard and learn about sailing in the 18th century. Learn how to use a compass, tie sailing knots, how to use a sailing whistle, and sing silly sea shanties.
