Congratulations to 3 winners of The 5 Spot Serving Success Scholarships

Friday, August 14th, 2026

Congratulations to these 3 winners of GLGSAV’s Service Success Scholarship Program

The 5 Spot restaurants, part of the locally owned GLGSAV (formerly Gaslight Group) family of restaurants, have awarded $5000 in scholarships to three team members through the company’s Service Success Scholarship Program.

Congratulations to winners: Abby of The 5 Spot Richmond Hill , who will be attending the University of Georgia this fall; Somaria of The 5 Spot Richmond Hill, who will be attending Louisiana State University this fall; Piper of The 5 Spot Midtown, who is a junior in Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools.

Now in its second year, Serving Success is an employee scholarship initiative designed to support educational and career advancement in hospitality and related industries.

This year’s recipients, Somaria and Abby from the 5 Spot Richmond Hill and Piper from the 5 Spot Midtown, each submitted essays and letters of recommendation detailing their educational plans, future goals, and how winning the scholarship would help them in the coming school year.

Somaria and Abby, incoming college freshmen, both plan to pursue careers in law, while Piper, a high school junior, used her scholarship award to participate in an advanced studies summer program designed to strengthen her SAT scores in hopes of securing a spot at the college of her dreams. She plans to pursue a career in a creative field.

The Serving Success Scholarship is funded by a dill-iciously simple, community-driven idea: $1 from every fried pickle appetizer sold at 5 Spot restaurants goes directly to the scholarship fund. This ongoing effort turns a popular menu favorite into meaningful opportunities for employees to pursue their educational goals.

The program was created to recognize and invest in the growth of GLGSAV employees who demonstrate dedication, leadership potential, and a commitment to hospitality. Eligible employees may apply annually for awards ranging from $250 to $2,000, which can be used for tuition, books, supplies, housing, or other education-related expenses.
