Join us for an introductory bookbinding workshop for teens, where you’ll learn the basics of creating your own handmade books. Participants will explore essential techniques, from folding and stitching to assembling a simple, unique book to take home. Perfect for beginners or those looking to enhance their creative skills!

Beginning Youth Clay
Tuesdays 4-5PM | Ages 9-12 | 8/20-9/24
Kids aged 9-12 will explore the creative possibilities of clay over 6 sessions in Beginning Youth Clay! This fun and energetic class geared toward young artists will cover a mix of skill-building and experimental projects. Completed projects will be glazed and fired, allowing participants to end the course with fully finished pieces.
Kids aged 6-8 will expand their creativity over 5 sessions in Discovering Art! Students will complete a variety of fun projects in different mediums and learn how to paint, draw and sculpt a variety of subjects.
Kids aged 9-12 will expand their creativity over 5 sessions in Adventures in Art! 2-D and 3-D mediums will be covered, including working with clay, painting, and creating mixed media artwork.
Kids aged 2-3 and parent will enjoy interactive bonding time over 8 sessions in Parent and Child Movement! Play with your child in song and dance, helping them achieve confidence in cognitive and motor skills. Using props and imagination in themed organized play connects you with your child while watching their independence develop.
Kids aged 9-12 will develop their drawing and painting skills over 6 sessions in Youth Drawing and Painting! Complete a variety of fun projects that will include watercolor, pastels, and acrylics.
Kids aged 9-13 will explore the drama of musical theatre over 9 sessions in Youth Musical Theatre! Students will sing, dance and act in this beginner friendly class and explore different musicals, styles of dance, and bring acting into movements of dance to transform into a true theater kid!
Tweens and teens aged 11-14 will learn the ins and outs of theatre arts over 20 sessions in Exploring Drama and Stagecraft! Students will gain acting experience and learn the fundamentals of playwriting, set design, costume design, and lighting design.
Clay classes are back with options for ages 9-12 and 13-18! Let your child explore the creative possibilities of clay and create pieces from their imagination. These classes range in skill level from beginner to intermediate. Classes begin Monday, August 19!

In Teen Clay, teens with any level of experience will learn a broad range of skills including hand-building and experimental projects. Beginning and Intermediate Youth Clay allows youth ages 9-12 to dive into the world of ceramics and complete finished pieces. Teen Clay class begins Jan 22, Beginning Youth Clay class begins Jan 30, and the Intermediate Youth Cay class begins Jan 29.

Girls ages 10-12 can enjoy an afternoon of beading and braiding in this fun class on Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm starting on Jan. 29 2024.
Roll up your sleeves and tap into your creative side as we explore many materials to create wearable and useable pieces of art. Introduction to beads, Kumihimo (the Japanese art of braiding), the use of knotting and paper will be explored. Projects will include friendship bracelets, key rings, and Kumihimo bracelets.

Mornings in movement and song with little ones aged 2-3. Class is available on both Wednesday and Saturday from 10-10:45AM starting Jan. 31.
This class offers interactive bonding time with parent and child, geared towards children ages two and three. In this class, young artists will have the opportunity to explore the art of both drawing and painting. You’ll develop your drawing and painting skills in a variety of fun projects that will include watercolor, pastels, and acrylics.

Spring youth classes begin this week at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center! There’s still time to register for art exploration – from our youngest artists in parent/child classes to adventures in visual arts!
All classes are 6 week sessions and build confidence, coordination, teamwork, and artistic skills. Youth classes cover ages 0-12 years.
An afternoon of clay exploration on the lawn of the Savannah Cultural Arts Center this Mon. April 3 2023! Artists and instructors from the SCAC and the Savannah community will have stations introducing you to projects and techniques in clay including handbuilding, surface design techniques, wheel, clay recycling, and Raku firing.
This FREE event is for all ages and all levels of clay experience to create, learn, and be inspired. This is an interactive event so be prepared to get your hands a little messy! Select projects can be left at the SCAC to be kiln fired and picked up at a later date.
Parents/guardians must accompany children ages 14 and younger at all times. Stop by any time between 1 and 4PM, no pre-registration required.

Bring a buddy and get muddy! Join us for a night of fun and creativity exploring clay in a supportive environment. This night is for couples and is open to all skill levels. Parent & Child Nightlight Glass Fusing Workshop NEW!

As the nights get longer, scare away the monsters with a nightlight that you and your youngster created together. Come join the fun and learn how to crush, cut, and melt glass into your own unique design. We will be using real glass to make a fused glass nightlight. Because we are using glass, children must be over the age of 5 to participate and an adult must be present. Please note: projects will be available for pick up at a later date due to the kiln firing process. Workshop is limited to 10 students total.

This class will focus primarily on foundational drawing techniques. Students will learn the fundamental principle of using basic shapes to construct images. Students will explore drawing with stylization, movement (gesture drawing), and how to develop details. As students learn and discover their own shape language from the classes, they will be able to use the basic drawing principles taught during the class to build their future drawing skills.

Build an eye catching artist portfolio to meet your individual needs! The class will consist of creating artworks based on the foundations of the Visual Arts. Illustrations from real life, original paintings, and an array of techniques will emphasize your uniqueness and self- expression. If you are struggling with certain materials or concepts, critiques during the art making process will help guide and improve the final product. The culmination of these pieces will be structured into an artist portfolio to present to future schools or for personal assessment.

Students will learn fundamental techniques with hand building and throwing basic forms on the potter’s wheel. Youth will be challenged to create dynamic surface decorations using glazes, slips and applied elements.

The Little Gift Giver for ages 6-11
This class is perfect for those kids who want to make wonderful holiday gifts for family and loved ones. Your little artist will make functional holiday themed pottery that will be treasure for years to come. In this three session class students will make with clay the first class, personalize their creations by painting, and glaze their creations in the final step to making their art work functional. Projects will be fired and ready for pick up just in time for Christmas!
