YMCA of Coastal Georgia is cutting the ribbon on EGYM smart strength circuit at three locations before the end of February, perfect for busy moms who need to get a in a full workout in less than 45 minutes.
First is the EGYM grand opening at the Effingham Y on 1/31, followed by the Islands Y on Whitemarsh Island 2/7, and the Liberty Y in Hinesville on 2/22.
What is interesting about EGYM is it provides a customized, full-body strength training workout in just 30 minutes, taking the guesswork out of strength training, and gives you a goal-specific training plan using a game-like interface.
That sounds like EGYM makes exercising more simple and efficient. We’re in!
The 2023 YMCA Critz Tybee Run Fest, a benefit supporting the youth and family-centered programming that YMCA of Coastal Georgia provides throughout the course of the year, takes place Feb. 3 and 4 2023, with a kids run and 5K on Friday night (Feb. 3), followed by a 10K, half marathon, 2.8-mile beach run and 1-mile run on Saturday morning. (Feb. 4)
The kids run @ 5:30PM Fri. Feb. 3 is free but pre-registration is required so organizers can make sure everyone gets a T-shirt and a finisher medal. All proceeds support YMCA of Coastal Georgia’s income-based assistance program for youth sports leagues, summer camps, before- and after-school care and educational support.

Nearly all cases of cervical cancer — as well as other cancers including those of the vulva, vagina, penis, and anus — are caused by HPV.
But HPV is highly preventable.
Similar to vaccines for many other viruses, the vaccine for HPV renders the virus ineffective by training the immune system to produce antibodies that bind to it as soon as it enters your body.
Anyone between the ages of 9 to 45 can receive the HPV vaccine to protect against the cancer-causing virus. Though this may seem an uncomfortable topic for protective parents or guardians, including HPV vaccination as part of a 10-12 year-old’s regular health check-up can ensure they’re fully safeguarded well before they become sexually active.
Those who have already started having sex can also still benefit. “If you haven’t yet contracted the virus,” assures SouthCoast Health pediatrician, Dr. Blaine Crosland (pictured) “it’s never too late to shield against it.”

To participate in the Pre-K Program for School Year 23-24, children must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2023 and must be a resident of Chatham County.
The Pre-Kindergarten program provides a full day (6.5 hours) of appropriate instructional services to students for the regular school calendar year. The purpose of the Pre-K Program is school readiness and transition to Kindergarten for success in later school years.

The Savannah Philharmonic will host a concert, “When Instruments Roamed the Earth,” at 3PM Sun. Jan. 22, 2023, at The Lucas Theatre of Arts in Savannah. This fun family program tells a story of prehistoric times when strange creatures walked the planet.

Join us at the Jepson Center to develop your young person’s skills as a photographer. We believe that all young people are artists. With that in mind, we will approach photography as professionals do, studying the elements of art. The camp will meet outside as much as possible as we explore our environment in Telfair Square and other nearby locations. We will use DSLR digital cameras and learn about exposure, and a few historical methods involving film. Photography is fun and accessible to everyone.

The average high school class size is 16.
The application is NOT part of Savannah Chatham County’s specialty program application process. SCA operates independently of the county public school system.
Historically, SCA students earn more college credits while in high school than other local high schools (public & private). Unlike other area high schools, SCA will cover the tuition if your child exceeds the 30 hour cap of state funded college courses while in high school.
SCA not only offers academic and technical college courses, we also have AP and technical high school courses such as Computer Science. SCA offers many extra-curricular programs including off campus learning experiences. This year SCA Seniors will travel to London and Paris as part of an eight day trip to Europe.

Take time to unleash your creativity in Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center studios every Saturday and Sunday between 10AM and 2PM for artmaking projects for all ages.

Each month features a special project designed to connect with an exhibition at the museum. A studio assistant is always on hand to answer questions and assist guests.
