Healthy Me event @ Savannah Children’s Museum, 10AM-1PM Sat. Aug. 12 2023

You’re invited to Savannah Children’s Museum for their annual Healthy Me! event.

On Sat. Aug 12, 10AM–1PM, SCM will host this fun day of educating children about healthy living, while showcasing immersive wellness programs and a great roster of community partners.

Event partners include Dogwood Pediatric Dentistry, TRIBE Savannah, Georgia Bikes, Memorial Health, and Soccer Shots!

Mercer Medical School will host a teddy bear clinic where children can bring stuffed animals for a wellness checkup. Savannah Children’s Museum educators will lead health and wellness-themed activities throughout the day.

This event is sponsored by Dogwood Pediatric Dentistry and Memorial Health Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital.

This event is FREE for Coastal Heritage Society members and visitors who receive EBT/SNAP/WIC benefits as part of CHS All In. Find info on how to become a CHS member here.

Savannah Children’s Museum ‘Healthy Me!’ event includes a Teddy bear clinic + Soccer Shots fun

Savannah Children’s Museum will host a day of healthy living and family fun, showcasing many health and wellness programs.

The event, called “Healthy Me!” will be Sat. Aug. 27 2022, 10AM-1PM @ Savannah Children’s Museum, 655 Louisville Rd. Savannah, GA 31401.

Highlights include a soccer activities with Soccer Shots Savannah and a Teddy bear clinic with stuffed animals with Mercer Medical School. There will also be a dinosaur brushing activity, bike safety information and a fun balance bike obstacle course. A registered dietitian will provide info about healthy lunches and infused water. Savannah Children’s Museum educators will lead health and wellness-themed activities throughout the day.

Sensory Soft Sundays for children with special needs

Savannah Children’s Museum will once again offer Sensory Soft Sunday on select Sundays throughout the year. Museum doors open early from 9AM- 11AM to families who have children with special needs or autism. Sensory Soft Sunday allows these families to make local connections and explore the SCM space without a crowd.

The number of attendees is limited, so please contact Jessica Paterson for pre-registration via email jpaterson@chsgeorgia.org

Vegetables are awesome and something we should eat every day! Explore new colors, textures and tastes while learning why vegetables are so important to building strong, healthy bodies. You’ll finish things off with a veg-tastic treat and tips on how to get more into our daily meals.

This full-day course gives an overview of reproductive anatomy and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It is designed for parents who live outside of Savannah or have schedules that make it difficult to attend weekday classes. This course includes a tour of the labor and delivery unit. Join Savannah Children’s Museum starting Valentine’s Day for bi-weekly Sunday nutrition workshops, each focusing on different aspects of a healthy lifestyle.

The program will actively engage children pre-K and up with art, movement, and science, while focusing on nutrition education. The whole family is encouraged to attend and participate.

Join Jesse Rosenblum, SCM’s resident nutrition expert, to learn about eating the rainbow, fruit as an alternative to candy, and the importance of healthy fats.

Each workshop in this Spring 2016 Smart Start series will actively engage children ages Pre-K and up with art, movement and science while learning about nutrition and health. The whole family is encouraged to attend and participate.

5 Senses

Eating isn’t something we do with just our mouths. Every single one of our five senses influences how we eat and the foods we choose most often. Use the five senses while talking about the importance of a varied diet and trying things more than once. All of this along with songs, crafts, movement, story time and takeaways to help you eat healthfully at home.

11AM-12:15PM: Tiny Tots Cooking Party
Kids ages 5 & younger take over the kitchen for the most creative culinary experience in town! Join us for an exciting Tiny Tots Cooking Party including cooking, learning, singing, and story time. Seats are limited and advanced tickets are required!
Tickets: $15 per child. One responsible adult per child is required.

1:30-3PM: Kids’ Cooking Party
Kids ages 6 & older can join us to make some delicious kid-friendly dishes in the TTF kitchen. Everyone gets to mix,measure, stir and dine on their culinary creations. Seats are limited and advanced tickets are required.
