Analog Photography Basics

Have you ever wondered how analog photography works? In this two-day workshop, you will get an introduction to 35mm film and how to use a darkroom. Exploring Cyanotype
Ages 10-14

Cyanotype is a photographic chemistry that dates back to the 1840s and makes beautiful blue-toned images. In the first day of this workshop, students will learn how to coat paper to make it light-sensitive, and create photograms from different objects. Students will also be able to shoot photographs with digital cameras and learn to make large negatives for creating cyanotype photographs. Museum members $100, non-members $125. The day of FREE fun for kids ages 5 to 12 is being held in conjunction with Georgia’s free fishing day & is sponsored by Safe Kids Savannah, the Chatham County Aquatic Center, & the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to promote fishing as a family activity & water safety.

This is the seventh consecutive year for the event which is named in memory of Gage Ochsner, M.D., a long-time supporter of Safe Kids Savannah and specifically the Kids Fishing and Coastal Water Safety event.

Parents mush accompany children during the event. One parent for every three children.

Entry is limited and pre-registration is required. No registration will be allowed on the day of the event.

Take Rover trick-or-treating during Savannah’s 12th Annual Wag-O-Ween 2017 event, which will be Sat. Oct. 21 2017 from noon to 5PM

Participants will receive a map indicating the more than 100 businesses where they may Trick or Treat with their canine companion. There will also be a costume contest and a raffle for some great prizes.

The Club at Savannah Harbor on Hutchinson Island next to the Westin offers a Wednesday special for locals only.

On Wednesdays, show your local ID and receive a $49 golf rate & a pool pass so you can enjoy the Westin Riverside Pool after your round. This special is valid now through Sept.  6 2017.

 8th Annual Statts Fest will be Sept. 23 2017 @ Grayson Stadium in Savannah & includes kids’ activities, live music, food trucks & silent auction.

Friends of Jason Statts have planned a benefit to help subsidize the medical assistance that Statts, a quadriplegic as a result of violent crime, requires.

This fundraiser will feature food trucks, a silent auction, lots of kids’ activities and Savannah’s best local bands throughout the event.

Kids’ events include a book nook tent sponsored by Savannah Children’s Museum. The Savannah Derby Taunts will be on hand to helping with kids races.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 at friendsofstatts.com or the day of the event for $20. Children 12 & younger are free with adult.

About Jason Statts

On June 28, 2008, Jason Statts, a professional graphic designer, local musician, 1996 SCAD graduate and overall amazing guy, was a victim of a violent crime in Ardsley Park. Statts was shot in the neck and suffered irreparable damage to his spinal column.

Since then, he has relied on government assistance to cover his mounting medical costs, and the support of his friends and family to keep him smiling. His family and friends host fundraisers to help fill in the gaps in his finances so that he can receive the benefits and medical assistance he requires.
