Registrations remain open and continue to fill if you would like to secure a spot. Rest assured, we will provide you with a complete refund if we are forced to cancel due to covid-related issues.
If we are in a position to modify an SCDS Summer Program, our registered families will have the first opportunity to accept the modified camp spots.
We know summer camp is important to you. It is to us as well. Our priority is the wellbeing of our staff, campers, and their respective families.
Telfair Museums in Savannah will have a Virtual Art Start featuring William Kwamena-Poh on Thursday May 21 2020.
Parents and children are invited to this online version of Telfair’s Art Start, for pre-K children and their parents and caregivers. This month’s program is based on the exhibition The Journey is Mine, Chapter One by William Kwamena-Poh. The online program will include a downloadable activity, and the artist will give a brief video welcome to families and tell one of the stories he heard growing up in Ghana.

Social-distancing family, (almost) free fun: Amazon is launching its original thriller The Vast of the Night (PG-13) at select drive-ins across the country including Hwy. 21 Drive In in Beaufort, S.C. this Friday and Saturday May 15 and 16 2020 ahead of the movie’s Prime Video debut May 29.
The drive-in will charge $0.50 admission for anyone 4 years and older in celebration of Vast of the Night’s 1950s theme.

Coach Scott recently moved from Petaluma, California, bringing 16 years of year-round volleyball coaching experience to the position in addition to classroom teaching experience at the high school level.
Scott is an All-American Division I full scholarship collegiate volleyball player with a degree in Art History from UC Berkeley. After graduation, she moved to Paris France where she played professional volleyball for the Racing Club de France. She competed in the Euro and French Cups, winning the French Cup with an impressive undefeated season.
Scott will also serve as the Middle School Director of Athletics and assist with teaching physical education classes in the fall.

SouthCoast Health Family Medicine Physician Dr. Leslie Sizemore and her patient were recently featured in articles for the Savannah Morning News and Bluffton Today on May 2 and May 3, respectively. These articles called attention to the increase in telemedicine exams amid social distancing constraints due to the coronavirus pandemic.
SouthCoast Health had the needed telemedicine technology to implement Virtual Visits services, a medical visit without coming into the provider’s office. Some SouthCoast Health physicians already offered this opportunity and they worked to add their remaining SouthCoast Health providers to the roster to offer this service with the outbreak of COVID-19.

The original Broadway production of Hamilton Musical, filmed LIVE onstage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, is now coming exclusively to Disney Plus this July 3 2020.
Disney announced Tuesday May 12 that it plans to stream a filmed version of the stage production beginning July 3 on Disney Plus, featuring the entire original Broadway cast. The Hamilton movie was slated to premiere in 2021. It just got moved up by 15 months.
In addition, Hulu is planning to stream a documentary feature about Freestyle Love Supreme, the rap improv group co-founded by Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda beginning June 5. The documentary, titled “We Are Freestyle Love Supreme,” is directed by Andrew Fried.

SouthCoast Health has transitioned many of its patient appointments online.
Dr. Watson explains the benefits of utilizing SouthCoast Health’s Virtual Visits service to help maintain social distancing due to the coronavirus.
A virtual visit is a good screening tool for healthcare providers to decide if you are suffering from common conditions such as allergies or a cold. It can also be used to determine if you are showing symptoms for COVID-19 and need to get testing.
The popular companion in-school program known as EduHam is being made available digitally through August, free of charge, to teachers, parents and pupils everywhere.
The launch of EduHam at Home was announced this week by “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and his partners in the venture: producer Jeffrey Seller, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, which developed the curriculum.
The program uses a love of the musical to spark students’ interests in creative pursuits and tie them to historical research.
EduHam was born as an offshoot of “Hamilton” and 250,000 students nationwide have participated.
