Free Family Day – The Art of Still Life (Jepson Center Only) Oct. 22 2022 , 10AM – 5PM Jepson Center, Savannah
Free Family Day @ Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center features family activities from 1-4PM based on the exhibitions Feels Like Freedom: Phillip J. Hampton and Elegies: Still Lifes in Contemporary Art. Families may explore and experiment with art materials, create still lifes, and make string art inspired by the work of Phillip J. Hampton.
The afternoon also will include a demonstration of still life painting and a “living still life” activity.

“We know that this is a very busy time of year for parents, and our offering this flu shot clinic is an excellent way to make getting the vaccine easier,” Dr. Kelsey Alexander said. A board-certified pediatric physician, Dr. Alexander heads the Concierge Pediatric Clinic at Coastal Care Partners and recommends that everyone age six months and older get a flu shot.
“The October 20th flu shot clinic is open to anyone that wants to come,” Dr. Alexander said. “While the children are here for their vaccination, the parents can also get their flu shots. We do request that you schedule an appointment in advance.”

Take a dive into the world of music with the Nuvo Toot! This colorful and easy to manage instrument provides an excellent opportunity to start learning how to play the flute.
In the 6-week class @ Savannah Cultural Arts Center, students ages 5 to 9 years will learn how to play the Nuvo Toot, read their first few notes, and perform several songs together in a fun group setting.

PS – Have a teen who loves music too? The Savannah Cultural Arts Center is starting a new class, DIY Musician, where teens will explore creating musical projects, recording, and even marketing your art!
Dogs and their owners will be judged on the creativity and originality of their coordinating costumes by a panel of local judges. Contest winners will be awarded prizes.
A $10 participation fee will be collected at the door. All proceeds from the 2nd Annual Costumes on the Woof event will be donated to Renegade Paws Rescue, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the highest level of care for unwanted, abused or injured dogs and cats in the Coastal Empire and surrounding area.

So thankful to have spent a leaf-peeping day in Greenville SC this fall.
If you’re looking for a fall getaway, we suggest taking the kids to Greenville. While there, either bike the Swamp Rabbit Trail (a 22-mile multi-use leisure trail) or visit the parks and playgrounds along the trail if your kids aren’t old enough to bike.
Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum will transform into a magical Harry Potter-themed experience during “Frogwarts” on Sun. Oct. 16 2022, 11AM-3PM.
This year’s classes will include Wand Making, Potions, Fortune Telling, Defense Against the Dark Arts: Glow in the Dark Fun!, Care of Magical Creatures, Quill Writing, Herbology, Muggle Studies, and Quidditch. Attendees can also take a ride on Georgia State Railroad Museum’s locomotive, the Frogwarts Express, or visit Ingotts Wizarding Bank. Visit the Owlery with Georgia Southern University’s Center for Wildlife Education and enjoy a musical selection from Esther F. Garrison School for the Arts’ Garrison Voices.
Some community partners will also be leading workshops, including Georgia Reptile Society. The Lowcountry Turners will be creating unique wooden wands. Harry-Potter themed food will be available for purchase.
Please dress in any Halloween or Harry Potter-themed costume of your choice!
Cost of admission: $14 per person for non-members; $12 per person for Coastal Heritage Society members.

Mother Earth will be there to lead you to the path to the various character and candy stops along the hike.
