Energy Unplugged is a summer camp for 8th – 12th grade students June 24-28th on the Georgia Tech Savannah campus.
In Energy Unplugged, participants will learn about the future of energy with hands-on projects, interactive demos, and learn how STEM can be the engine to a career in the energy field.
Participants will learn how solar panels and batteries can work together to provide energy even when the sun is not shining, obtain insights into electric vehicles and talk to researchers who are making electricity cleaner.
The program will include segments on how electricity is generated, where it goes, what it costs, its environmental impact, and how it can be brought to more of the world’s 2.5B people with little to none of it.

Telfair Museums’ observance of Juneteenth reaches its 17th year with a day of free activities, storytelling and performance celebrating freedom and African American culture this Sat. June 15 2024 @ Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center in Savannah.
The museum welcomes back Dr. Jamal Toure as the African Spirit to open the event with a libation ceremony, followed by children’s activities, storytelling, presentations by Atlanta visual and spoken word artist rEN Dillard (original co-founder of Savannah’s Spitfire Poetry Group), and a special musical performance at 3PM by Bokei Carribean Vibes Steel Drum Band.
The event is 10AM-5PM with performances and family art making activities from 1–4PM..

By incorporating sentimental elements and colors to reflect individuality, participants design a photoshoot to evoke their personalities using a cellphone camera and Polaroids shared among the group.

Borrowing inspiration from Iván Argote’s exhibition The Burden of the Invisible, assemble large planters with native flora as an homage to your history of place. Consider how Argote’s exhibition honors people in a new way as you reimagine historical monuments of the South.

Calling all homeschooling families! Amplify your student’s artist journey with an enriching workshop at the SCAD Museum of Art. In this immersive experience, education and creativity collide to offer a field study for homeschooled students.
This event presents a unique opportunity for your students to acclimate into the art world as observers and creators. While they feed their creative minds among the exhibitions, they’ll meet other students and foster lasting community connections.
What to expect:
Artist appreciation: Encounter the work of diverse artists while touring the SCAD Museum of Art’s galleries with a museum educator.
Artmaking: Express creative ideas at interactive art stations equipped with the necessary materials and guidance to create art inspired by work seen in the museum.
Build community: Connect with other homeschooling families who share a passion for art and education.
Learn as you go: Deepen your appreciation for the world of visual expression while learning more about art styles, social significance, and the use of varied materials.

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) families wanting to shift their student out of a designated attendance zone school will have the opportunity to apply for Administrative Placement in early June 2024.
The Summer Administrative Placement Window will open at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024. The window will close at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8th, 2024. NOTE: Applications are timestamped and processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The window may close earlier if all seats are filled before the end date.
Notification of approval or denial will be completed by Wednesday, June 26th, 2024.
The application will be completed online. The link to submit your application can be accessed on the Administrative Placement page on the SCCPSS website. In-person assistance will be available at the Student & Family Service Center, 400 E. Broad Street. Additionally, the Administrative Placement Hotline will be available at (912) 395-5530.
