Check out the new MusikGarten family music sessions for toddlers and babies in Savannah, Pooler,  Statesboro & Hilton Head Is.

The class sessions – presented by Studio 2424 – are designed to nurture children’s music aptitude by engaging them with their families in singing and movement activities which help attune the ear, refine the voice, and develop an ease with rhythmical movement and expression. Instrumental activities range from marking simple rhythms with sticks, chimes and drums, to singing and playing strings and keyboards from notation. Details about classes here.

2012 Tybee Is. Pirate Festival, Pirate Parade, Oct. 4-7

Get ready for swashbuckling fun: the 2012 Tybee Is. Pirate Festival –  includes Live Music, Children’s Activities & a Pirate Victory Parade – is set for on October 4-7.

Every Columbus Day weekend, Tybee Island transforms into a lively pirate village, celebrating the rich seafaring history that defines the Georgia coast with live music, children’s activities and a Pirate Victory Parade.

The parade will be 3-5pm Sat. Oct   6. This parade is a must for families. Parade participants will pass out treasure along the route.

Highlights for the 2012 Tybee Island Pirate Festival include The Pirate Victory Parade, Scallywags Costume Contest, Little Matey’s Cove, Thieves’ Market and the new Landshark’s Mugs of Mutiny Tavern with live music. The festivities kick off with the coronation at the King and Queen at the Buccaneer Ball at The Crab Shack on Thursday, October 4.

All 2012 Pirate Festival events – with the exception of the parade – will be held at the South Beach parking lot located at Tybrisa Street on Tybee Island, Georgia.

From October 1 through 6, teaching artists of Project 440 will introduce young people to Classical Music via community engagement programs, workshops and in-school residencies.

Founded by three Savannah natives, including Executive Director Joseph Conyers, Assistant Principal Bass of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Project 440 works to strengthen communities through music by educating future generations of musicians and music enthusiasts.

The Project 440 team will perform in eight library branches as part of the Live Oak Public Libraries MusicAlive! Series, present workshops in instrumental instruction for local educational organizations and conduct residency activities at some local schools.

During these FREE MusicAlive! Inspiration Station Discover program, kids will learn how a simple idea can inspire an entire musical composition! Musicians demonstrate how different rhythms, melodies and harmonies combine to create a musical masterpiece. Kids will be introduced to classical music through Project 440’s MusicAlive! series.

· 1pm-3pm: Marker Painting: Create beautiful tints and shades and mimic the look of watercolors with markers! Learn how to layer colors and more! Parents will love this easy and non-messy technique!

New Time for Toddler Tuesdays at Oatland Island Wildlife Center, Savannah

Toddler Tuesday weekly nature program at Oatland Island Wildlife Center in Savannah will be at a new time. Instead of two sessions, there will be one weekly session from 10:30-11:15 starting this Tuesday, September 25. Theme of Sept. 25 is Fabulous Foxes.

At Toddler Tuesday, children & their parents/caretakers experience nature through themed activities including live animal encounters, wildlife nature walks, storytelling, songs, interactive finger-play & crafts.

Oatland’s new naturalist Michelle Kelly leads the sessions. Pre-registration required.

Stroller Strides of Savannah welcomes babies from 6 weeks to any age. Babies are Stroller Strides’ priority, so don’t worry if yours is fussy!

What should I bring to class?

* Water
* A towel, blanket or yoga mat for ab exercises and stretching
* A hat and/or sunscreen
* Anything you may think your baby needs ( snacks, bottles, sippy cups, toys, potty training toilet)
* A stroller ( any stroller will do as long as it does not tip over)

What should I wear to class ?
Wear something comfortable that you can move ( power walk,jog, stretch) easily in. Please make sure that you have comfortable tennis shoes on.

Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to class so you don’t get left behind.

Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness: Zoe Foundation ‘Walk to Remember’ & Balloon Release, Savannah

In honor of pregnancy and infant loss awareness, The Zoe Foundation will host the annual “Walk to Remember” Sat. Oct. 13 2012 @ Forsyth Park Registration: 9 AM Event Time: 10 AM to noon

This year’s event will feature: music; balloon release to remember babies; memorial walk around Forsyth Park.

Free and open to the public. Donations accepted.

The Zoe Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization that offers financial and emotional support to families who have endured the loss of a baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, chromosomal disorders, SIDS, accidents or other causes. The Zoe Foundation believes that even the smallest life is precious and deserves a proper memorial. Everyone who has experenced a similar loss or knows someone who has is invited to get connected with The Zoe Foundation.

You’re invited: The Next Generation’s BBQ, Brews & Bluegrass fund raiser at a new Savannah venue

The annual popular fundraiser for The Next Generation will be held at a new spot this year: The Barbeque, Brews + Bluegrass event will be at Villa Maria Center, 6 Dolan Drive in Isle of Hope on Oct. 7!

Last year’s event raised $50,000 for The Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center. Obviously, this is a way to make a difference AND have some family fun.

When: Sunday, October 7, 3-7pm Villa Marie Center, 6 Dolan Drive in Isle of Hope, Savannah, GA

Music: The Jimmy Wolling Bluegrass Band and The Marshall Brothers Activities:
