In honor of Native American Heritage, the Edisto Natchez-Kusso Tribe of SC are partnering with the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage for a free, family-friendly Native American celebration, 1-3PM Sat. Nov. 9 2019 in Ridgeland SC.

Tribe members will teach attendees about their customs and traditions. There will be a demonstration of music and dance with a chance for folks to join. Afterwards, take your photo taken with members of the tribe. Local Native American artists will have their work on display, too.

This event will take place in the Morris Center Art Park under the big live oak tree.

Morris Center Launches Field Trips in Fall 2019

Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage announces its lineup of field trips for the upcoming school year. All K-12 state standards-based programs are cross-disciplinary and include the following curriculums: social studies, English language arts and visual arts.

Dynamic and interactive, the programs include pre- and post-visit materials for teachers to use in the classroom. Field trips to the center last approximately two hours and include a tour of the current exhibitions and hands-on activities.

FREE college football tickets: Georgia State is offering Dorian evacuees free tickets to this Saturday Sept. 7’s football home opener against Furman @ 7PM inside Georgia State Stadium. Free tickets are available to residents of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina who have been displaced due to mandatory evacuations in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian. Residents who show a valid driver’s license from the specific coastal zip codes that are under a mandatory evacuation will be eligible to take advantage of this offer. Up to four (4) complimentary tickets can be claimed at the Georgia State Stadium Office windows – while supplies last – beginning at 9AM Thurs. Sept. 5 through kickoff on Sat. Sept. 7. Sept. 5 & Fri. Sept. 6. (Museum is closed Wednesday) The attraction hopes to provide those impacted by the storm with an educational escape where children and families can experience the power of play. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in the highly-interactive exhibit based on Disney Junior’s Peabody Award-winning television series, “Doc McStuffins.” This offer is valid for walk-up guests only with proper identification from an evacuated area.

Discounts @ Georgia State Parks: Georgia’s State Park welcomes evacuees and their pets, including horses at parks with equestrian facilities. All cottages and campsites will allow pets during this time. Pet fees will be waived. Campsites and cottages are available at regular rates, and “dry camping” is free during this emergency event. Labor Day Fireworks, Tybee Is.
@ 12th Annual Labor Day Beach Bash
Sun. Sept. 1 2019 @ Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion.
Free live entertainment will be provided on Sunday starting @ 7PM, followed by a fireworks show around 9:15PM that can be viewed from Tybee’s eastern beaches.

Free Family Fun Nights

Family Friday Nights for families. Held the first Friday of each month. Designed to bring families together, for a cost free evening of fun activities. Depending on the weather let the kids take a bounce in our Bounce House, build big with the Big Blue Blocks or get creative and crafty. Light refreshments available. The Nov. 1 Family Fun Night will honor military, first responders, law enforcement. Light supper, bounce house, fire engine and access to all the exhibits.
