To celebrate the tenth-annual event, there will be more workshops and special programming than ever before. Guests can build a holiday wonderland with Snapology, enjoy caroling from Savannah Stage Company, see and purchase handmade holiday spinning tops created by the Lowcountry Turners, enjoy performances from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by Savannah Children’s Theatre and design holiday cards for hospital patients with Savannah Children’s Museum’s “Carts with heART” program.

Other activities for visitors will include learning how to shoulder a musket during Toy Soldiers Training, festive holiday dancing with Three Fold Chord, engaging in STEAM learning to see how a chimney works during Chimney Science, celebrating different cultures during our “Holidays Around the World” scavenger hunt, taking a holiday-themed ride on a historic steam locomotive and sharing a Christmas wish with Santa Claus. The Salvation Army will also be bringing their mobile canteen with free donuts and coffee.

In addition to the many workshops and activities, visitors can purchase a gourmet grilled cheese from The Big Cheese food truck and have a sweet treat for dessert from Leopold’s Ice Cream.

Savannah Santa Train is hosted each year by Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum. Tickets are $15 per person for all guests eighteen months and up and pre-registration is required.

Your kids can become a Junior Ranger 

Take advantage of the fact that we live within a day’s drive of multiple national parks & monuments & have your kids become a junior ranger at one or many of these sites.

When you take kids to tour national parks, you never know how much they are getting out of the visit. Especially for those of us moms who aren’t exactly history experts.

Which is why you need to pick up the Junior Ranger booklets at the visitor centers of national parks you visit. The Junior Ranger program kids engage more during the visits.

Junior Ranger booklets have activities about the national parks for ages 5-12. Junior ranger books are free to any visitor and usually are available at the visitors’ centers. Often, similar programs with more advanced activities are also available for older kids. Just ask at the site’s visitor center.

While doing the activities, children enjoy earning a badge and a certificate.

Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Enchantment!  is a celebration of childhood set to song.

The two-hour ice show featuring Frozen, Cars, Toy Story & The Little Mermaid is @ the Savannah Civic Center this week October 24-29, 2018. We caught opening night & savored the show.

Your kids will love Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, Ariel, Sebastian, Anna, Elsa, Olaf &, of course, Mickey, Minnie.

You, however, will appreciate the snow falling in the civic center rafters during Frozen & the bubbles floating down during Little Mermaid, Elsa’s elegant skating & the fact that Ham (Toy Story) can skate at all. You’ll wonder how Lightning McQueen, Mater & Sally glide on the ice.

You’ll appreciate the fact that Ken (Toy Story) wears an ascot & docksider-skates. You’ll groove in your seat to the pop tunes during the Toy Story segment. And you may just choke up a bit when four costume-clad kids from the audience get to glide around in a little boat on the ice during ‘Under the Sea.’ You may just cry outright at the very sight of all the little wide-eyed princesses and Olafs in the audience.

In the end, your kids’ favorite Disney characters gliding and pivoting on ice will serve as a reminder to relish all that is your kids’ childhood.
