Come for Holiday Happenings at Trustees with Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. But his merry mission puts Santa in jeopardy and creates a nightmare for good little boys/girls everywhere.  Admission IS FREE with a donation of a non-perishable food item for Savannah’s Second Harvest. Come for Holiday Happenings at Trustees with the classic Miracle on 34th Street.  An old man going by the name of Kris Kringle fills in for an intoxicated Santa in Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade. When Kringle claims that he really is Santa Claus, it leads to a court case to prove his authenticity.  Admission IS FREE with a donation of a non-perishable food item for Savannah’s Second Harvest. No tickets required. All events are open to the public.

Come kick off the 2018 holiday season small-town style @ the annual Tree Lighting & Christmas in the Park festival in Garden City on Sat. Dec. 1 2018.

The mayor lights the official city tree, a 30-ft. cedar @ 6PM Sat. Dec. 1 @ Volunteer Park.

A Christmas in the Park holiday festival follows @ 6:30PM @ Sharon Park including the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus by fire truck, Christmas caroling, holiday puppet shows, a Moonbounce, arts and crafts, a poinsettia raffle, and music by Living Hope Choir, Juda. Refreshments are provided by Garden City’s Police Department.

Come celebrate with Garden City.

Savannah Holly Days 2017 Tree Lighting, Cookies with Santa

Savannah knows how to throw a kid-friendly holiday season.

We can credit that to The Savannah Holly Days, which was created to promote holiday cheer and events from Thanksgiving through New Year’s.

Parts of Savannah’s Historic District will be adorned with holiday decorations throughout the season and host signature events for the entire family to enjoy.

The Savannah Holly Days signature event series begins the Friday after Thanksgiving with special events and offerings running through New Year’s.

Enjoy a tree lighting spectacular, cookies with Santa, kid’s block party, carolers on Broughton and more. Every Friday and Saturday night, a holiday video will play on the wall of Levy Jeweler’s on Bull and Broughton. Individuals can upload photos of their favorite Savannah holiday moments via the website or tag #SavHollyMoments or #SavHollyDays on social media to be included on the big screen.

The purpose of Savannah Holly Days is to help bring people downtown to eat and shop during the holiday season.

The 2018 Savannah Holly Days schedule of signature events includes:

★ Projection on Levy Jeweler’s Building – Every Friday and Saturday night, a holiday video will play on the wall of Levy Jeweler’s on Bull and Broughton. Individuals can upload photos of their favorite Savannah holiday moments via the website or tag #savhollymoments on social media to be included on the big screen!

★ Tree Lighting at Bull & Broughton on Fri. Nov. 23, 6-7PM A festive countdown to the holiday tree lighting on the corner of Broughton & Bull Streets with live performances, singing and dancing for the whole family to celebrate the holidays.

★ Cookies with Santa at Bull & Broughton on Sat. Dec. 1, 1-3PM Enjoy Mrs. Claus’ cookies with Santa on the corner of Broughton & Bull Streets and witness the magical moments of the holidays in the eyes of young children. Bring your little ones for a chance to meet Santa and take a picture with him. They will also get the opportunity to write a letter and mail it to the North Pole.

★ Jingle Bell Block Hop in Ellis Square on Sat. Dec. 8, 2-4PM A holiday block party celebrating one of the favorite songs of all times, Jingle Bells, which was penned here in Savannah, Ga! It will be an afternoon full of live performances, singing and dancing activities for the whole family.

★ Here We Come A Caroling at Bull & Broughton on Sat. Dec. 15, 5-7PM Enjoy listening to the sound of holiday cheer from various choirs while exploring Savannah’s Historic District.

★ Holidays on the Big Screen in Ellis Square on Sat. Dec. 22, 6-8PM Bring everyone downtown along with chairs & blankets to watch a favorite holiday movie under the stars.

Savannah Santa Train 2018

Registration is open for the favorite holiday kids’ event – Savannah Santa Train – which will be Dec. 8 this year @ Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum. 

Kids can a short ride on a steam locomotive, create holiday themed crafts with community partners, visit with jolly old St. Nicholas & much more.

To celebrate the tenth-annual event, there will be more workshops and special programming than ever before! Guests can build a holiday wonderland with Snapology, enjoy caroling from Savannah Stage Company, see and purchase handmade holiday spinning tops created by the Lowcountry Turners, create custom t-shirts with Maven Makers, enjoy performances from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by Savannah Children’s Theatre and design holiday cards for hospital patients with Savannah Children’s Museum’s “Carts with heART” program.

Savannah Santa Train is hosted each year by Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum.

Tickets are $15 per person for all guests eighteen months and up and pre-registration is required here. Train rides are available every twenty minutes, so please select a time to reserve your spot. Activities-Only tickets are also available for guests who do not wish to ride the train.

We love this Savannah tradition: ice skating inside the Savannah Civic Center.

Skatefest will be Sat. Dec. 7 2018 to Mon. Jan. 2 2019 @ the Savannah Civic Center.  There will be multiple sessions each day.

Single session tickets, including skate rental are $8 per person and 6 person punch passes are $40.

Ice skating sessions last 1.5 hours and all ticket purchases include skate rental.

FREE HOLIDAY PARKING

The City of Savannah typical offers a holiday parking deal every Thursday and Friday in starting Nov. 23 through Dec. 22.

The first three hours in any city-owned garage is free. Any time over three hours is the daily rate.

Garages included: Bryan Street, Liberty Street, Robinson garage on Montgomery Street, State Street Garage and the Whitaker Street Garage.

You’re invited to the 10th Annual Tybee Lighted Boat Parade on Fri. Dec 7 2018 at The Original Crab Shack on Tybee Is.

The event begins at 7PM with a Hot Dog & Chili Bar. The Hot Dog & Chili Bar is FREE for EVERYONE with a Second Harvest canned food donation.

Boats depart Crab Shack docks at approximately 7:30PM (Tybee Time). Boats return around 8:15PM

Save the date for the favorite holiday kids’ event – Savannah Santa Train – which will be Dec. 8 this year @ Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum. 

Kids can a short ride on a steam locomotive, create holiday themed crafts with community partners, visit with jolly old St. Nicholas & much more.
