Thursday, January 31st, 2013

Groundhog Day (1993) Rated PG

Saturday, February 2 at 7 p.m.
Presented by the Lucas Theatre

Groundhog Day is a comedy directed by Harold Ramis, starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. Murray plays Phil Connors, an egocentric TV weatherman who is told to cover the annual Groundhog Day event in Punxsutawney. Annoyed with the assignment, he gives a sarcastic report and tries to leave, but a blizzard keeps him and the news crew stuck in town. He finds himself in a time loop, repeating the same day again and again. After indulging in hedonism and numerous suicide attempts, he begins to re-examine his life and priorities.

In 2006, the film was added to the United States National Film Registry as being deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

Tickets are $8 general admission or $5 for students and seniors. They are available by calling 912-525-5050 or online.

This film is eligible for use with the Lucas Theatre Movie Pass.
