Lawton’s free animal farm includes goats, sheep, pot-bellied pigs, ponies, rabbits, a deer named Callie and a Clydesdale named Harley (who loves visitors bearing carrots and apples). Pony rides and horseback trail riding available for a fee. Lawton also hosts children’s birthday parties (pony rides).

Please note that the Sea Pines Plantation charges a $5 cash gate fee per car and does not allow bicycles.

Pony Rides
Shetland Ponies provide pony rides for children 7 and under between the hours of 9am and 4pm daily. The ponies are led two times around the animal farm. Not suitable for children heavier than 55 lbs. Rides are $10 per child for two laps around the animal farm.

Directions
From I-95, take South Carolina Exit 8 onto Highway 278 heading east towards Hilton Head Island for roughly 25 minutes to reach the only bridge onto the island.
Follow the signs to the Cross Island Parkway (toll road), and stay in the left lane.
Continue along the Cross Island Parkway through the toll plaza ($1.25 toll).
This road then automatically turns into Palmetto Bay Road.
Continue until the Sea Pines traffic circle.
Follow traffic circle around to the FIRST EXIT onto Greenwood Drive.
Pass through Sea Pines security gate ($5 resort fee per vehicle required) and continue on Greenwood Drive.
Lawton Stables is on the right after 1.9 miles.
