Be inspired as you discover new ways music can help your busy days with your child be easier, happier days.  In “Peek A Boo, I Love You!”, more than just a curious story, Mother Goose games like peek-a-boo help babies understand language. In this special class, uncover more ways to say “I love you” using American Sign Language, soap bubbles, and parent-baby dances. Plus, parents can meet with other newborns and families in the community and learn how music improves the child development process. For ages newborn – 20 months.

Need new lullabies? Check out Putumayo Kids “Acoustic Dreamland” CD

    Sunday, February 13th, 2011

putumayo-kids-acoustic-dreamlandLet’s face it. We only have a handful of years to sing our kids lullabies before they’re putting themselves to sleep. So now’s the time to make sure we sing them the best lullabies we can find.

The Allman Brothers “Blue Sky” is the newest lullaby my kids and I are crooning around the house these days at nap and bedtime. It’s the perfect lullaby to chase away the winter blues.

Credit the new Putumayo Kids CD “Acoustic Dreamland” for putting that tantalizing tune – and so many others – on the tip of our tongue.

The CD – set to be released Feb. 22 – features 11 singer-songwriters (including Elizabeth Mitchell singing the Allman Brothers’ “Blue Sky”) performing unplugged, soothing music to help the wee ones unwind. The CD begins with Lucy Kaplansky performing a rendition Mary Chapin Carpenter’s “Dreamland.” Now if this isn’t the ideal lullaby to end the day and savor our little ones’ childhoods, we don’t know what is.

“Every sleepy boy and girl in every bed around the world
Can hear the stars up in the sky whispering a lullaby
Who knows where you’ll fly away winging past the light of day
The man in the moon and the Milky Way welcome you to dreamland.”

Disclosure: We received the CD at no cost for this review.

There’s still time to join The Ballet School’s “Mommy & Me” program, which is from 10-10:30 AM Tuesdays and Thursdays and for ages 18 months to 3 years of age.

“Mommy & Me ” is a 10-week program for $125. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

The program was such a success last session, that The Ballet School had to add a second class.

In a fun and encouraging environment, children explore their musicality, rhythm, creativity while moving in their space. This class introduces age-appropriate stretching, basic strengthening, balance, motor skill development and repeated coordination movements. It’s a wonderful way to develop their social skills.

While having a non-stop, fun-filled classtime, there is a gentle and positive discipline at all times. Over the 10-week programs, mommies will see a huge progress made by each child. This is a very rewarding program for all that attend. Check out The Ballet School’s website by clicking here to see the full array of programs from children thru adults.
