Toddler Time @ Sandbox Children’s Museum @ Tanger Outlets in Bluffton SC is for children ages 1-3 and their caregiver. Come and explore a staff-led activity in the area of science, art, or music.
This 30-minute interactive program is aligned to the SC Early Learning Standards. Adults must stay and participate with their child.

Weekend Family Drop-In Studio is a time to unleash your creativity. Join Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center in the studios every Saturday and Sunday between 10AM and 2PM for artmaking projects for all ages.
During Family Drop-In Studio, work at your own pace and comfort level through an array of creative mediums such as watercolors, collage, calligraphy, origami, coloring books and much more.
Each month features a special project designed to connect with an exhibition at the museum. A studio assistant is on hand to answer questions and assist guests.
Drop-In Studio is perfect for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Cannon Firings & Fort Talk @ Fort Pulaski National Monument
Fort Pulaski National Monument just outside Savannah on the way to Tybee Island has Saturday weekly cannon firings @ 11AM, 1PM and 3PM.
Park staff and volunteers in living history attire conduct a program that concludes with the firing of reproduction cannons. Come learn how Civil War cannons were fired – and why it matters.
Cannon demonstrations last about twenty minutes, with time afterward for visitor questions.
Highlights include a soccer activities with Soccer Shots Savannah and a Teddy bear clinic with stuffed animals with Mercer Medical School. There will also be a dinosaur brushing activity, bike safety information and a fun balance bike obstacle course. A registered dietitian will provide info about healthy lunches and infused water. Savannah Children’s Museum educators will lead health and wellness-themed activities throughout the day.

Wag-O-Ween Weekend 2022 is a pet-friendly community event that takes place in downtown Savannah and attracts 1000+ yearly participants.
This year’s event will take place over two days – Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 22-23 2022, from noon-5PM – to allow for a less-crowded trick or treat route and social distancing at treat stops.
The 17th annual Wag-O-Ween pet trick-or-treating fundraising event will feature treat stops between the Savannah River and the Starland District. Humans and dogs alike are encouraged to dress up in Halloween costumes and follow their map to participating local businesses, which will be giving out dog treats and goodies.
2022 swag bags, wristbands, and maps will be available for purchase both Saturday and Sunday at WoW registration booths ands pre-order
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Sara Portman Community Fund for spay/neutering, education, and more. The remaining money raised will continue to support local animal rescues in their mission to place animals in “furever” homes and support community education efforts.

Visit special exhibitions in the Discovery House. “Conservation in the Classroom” (Main Gallery) includes student artwork focused upon the conservation and protection of dolphins, sea turtles, shore birds, and horseshoe crabs. “Nikon Small World” (Sea Island Room) is a traveling exhibition of 20 jaw-dropping, prize-winning photomicrographs (photographs taken through the light of a microscope).

Looking for a kid-friendly daytrip destination from Savannah?
We love Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Is. – a roughly 70 minute drive from Savannah. While there be sure to try to catch a sighting of one of the manatees (pictured above in a photo we took in July 2022) that hang out @ Harbour Town Yacht Basin. The manatees sometimes can be seen in the part of the marina near where this sign pictured below is posted, where the arrow points in the photo below.
There’s still time to catch a legendary free Gregg Russell concert outdoors under Liberty Oak in Harbour Town this 2022 summer season. See his Summer 2022 performance schedule here. This beloved family-oriented singer/storyteller performs sing-a-longs, ballads and silly songs with audience participation. Kids often make & bring “pick-me-to sing-with-you” signs to hold up for Gregg to see.

Adventure Playground @ Lowcountry Celebration Park, Hilton Head Is.
The spacious Adventure Playground features a giant ship complete with mist cannons. located off Pope Avenue near the Coligny Beach parking lot. Adventure Playground is open from sunrise to sunset. Restroom facilities at the park close at 10PM. Parking is available in the Coligny Beach Parking Lot, the parking lot off Nassau Street or onstreet parking on Nassau Street. Details here.
Gregg Russell Playground in Harbour Town (pictured), Sea Pines Resort, Hilton Head Is. The Gregg Russell Playground at Harbour Town is one of the top playgrounds in our area. Fenced, somewhat shaded playground that includes a treehouse; swings; numerous slides; lots of climbing bars, jungle gym bars, monkey bars. Just outside the fenced-playground is a water fountain; picnic tables; bathrooms; and plenty of spots for lunch, drinks or coffee and of course, the famous Harbour Town lighthouse which is open to climb for a fee plus $9 Sea Pines gate fee. Richmond Hill Garden Club’s 21st annual Pumpkin Patch will be Sat. Oct.1 2022, 9AM-1PM @ the J. F. Gregory Park Pavilion in Richmond Hill.
Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins, small pumpkins (all sizes for youngsters) will be for sale in the Pumpkin Patch, with giant mums and straw bales (mums and hay bales are for sale also).
Come early for the best selection.
Games for all ages–fish pond, ring the pumpkin, bean bag toss (for little and big kids), pick a pumpkin, CREEPY feels, wheel of fortune, ghost darts, walk the plank, candy corn ring toss.
Fresh, home-baked goods, wreaths, signs, baskets, centerpieces, Halloween kids books, costumes and props–anything you need for decorating your home and yard—will be available for sale.
Pumpkin Patch is a RHGC Fundraiser to fund community projects. Photo opportunities abound, so wearing Halloween costumes is encouraged.
