Each class features a special theme or ingredient and includes an interactive nutrition lesson or game. With each theme, Tummy Time Foods takes the kids on a new culinary adventure, different flavors, cuisines and seasonal produce. They incorporate nutrition and emphasize healthy eating in every class. Parents/caregivers are welcome to drop-off or stay and watch. Classes are for ages 8 & older and advanced tickets for each class are required. The Independent Learning Network, Inc. (ILN) in Savannah wants your art.

ILN needs exceptional artwork to liven up its new resource center and to inspire learning. They’re inviting homeschoolers ages 9-21 to enhance their portfolio and showcase their creative talents by producing art that can be hung on a wall.

Artworks should communicate the joys of homeschooling and may include field trip experiences, academic successes, and overall homeschool ideas.

Each homeschooler may submit up to two (2) artworks. Artworks may be in any medium and size, and should not be framed or mounted. Selected artworks will be on permanent display in the center and will become the property of ILN.

Recognition for the selected artworks will include three (3) gift cards each ($50, $75, $100) for primary (ages 8-10), intermediate (ages 11-13), and secondary (ages 14-21) academic levels.

You-Pick Strawberries @ Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens, Savannah

Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens at the Historic Bamboo Farm continues to offer fresh berry fruits for picking from the fields when in season. The harvest season is heavily weather dependent. None of the 2015 berry-picking fields have opened yet.

Look at the chart below. Call 912-921-5460 to learn the status of the field prior to arriving, as poor weather or large crowds may pick the field clean well before the 12 noon scheduled closing. The best time to pick is first thing in the morning at 9 am (as it is cooler, too).

No pets allowed in the fruit picking fields during your harvest. Children must be supervised to prevent plant trampling. You are responsible to pay for all fruits (ripe or unripe) picked during a visit.

The gardens have picnic tables scattered around the grounds if you want to make a picnic out of your strawberry picking.

2015 Flannery O’Connor Parade and Street Fair – a lively annual celebration of acclaimed author and Savannah native Flannery O’Conner’s 90th birthday – will offer family fun, live music and more.

Attendees are invited to walk in the parade, bring handmade signs, and sing along. Live music throughout the event will be provided by a cavalcade of singer songwriters and musicians from some of Savannah’s finest local bands. Music for the parade will be played by an all-star line up of the Sweet Thunder Strolling Band. Costumes inspired by Flannery O’Conner characters, settings, or the author’s life are encouraged but optional. The parade is free and open to the public.

ABOUT FLANNERY O’CONNOR:
Flannery O’Connor was born in Savannah, Georgia on March 25, 1925 and is the author of the acclaimed novels Wise Blood and The Violent Bear It Away, as well as 32 short stories and numerous essays. Perhaps best known as a pioneering Southern gothic author who often wrote about morally flawed characters, O’Connor remains an important voice in American literature. She lived in Savannah until 1938 and drew inspiration from her childhood experiences in Georgia’s First City until her death from lupus in Milledgeville, Georgia on August 3, 1964. She received the National Book Award for Fiction posthumously in 1972 for The Collected Stories of Flannery O’Connor.

The Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home, located at 207 E. Charlton Street in the heart of Savannah, Georgia, is dedicated to preserving the legacy of one of the South’s greatest writers. Beginning in March 24 2015,  All Children’s Rehab & Specialty Clinic in Savannah will offer FREE language enrichment programs for children ages 3-5, 12:30-1:30PM Tuesdays & Thursdays.

The classes are about 45 minutes to an hour long. Classes run through April 23 2015. Parents must call to reserve your child’s spot.  Spaces are filling up quickly.

The goal of the enrichment program is to help children: develop emergent literacy skills, strengthen phonemic awareness, develop important basic and content vocabulary, and build comprehension and writing skills through highly engaging activities that have an emphasis on listening, speaking reading, and writing while using high interest materials. music and literacy.

Sessions begin March 2 and run through March 28 2015. Three, four and six week classes are available, as well as weekend workshops.

Class fees include instruction, use of studio space, use of equipment and all materials and tools required. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Credit cards are accepted.

Spring Break Kids Cooking Camp

The Tummy Time Foods “Kids Can Cook” Camp is a 3-day camp that teaches kids ages 8-11 how to select and prepare healthier food options from scratch! Tummy Time Foods weekly Savannah cooking classes are structured in a nine-week series. Each class features a special theme or ingredient and includes an interactive nutrition lesson or game. With each theme, we take the kids on a new culinary adventure, different flavors, cuisines and seasonal produce. We incorporate nutrition and emphasize healthy eating in every class! Savannah United Soccer‘s Spring 2015 Early Goals Toddler Soccer schedule has been posted online here. 

Registrations will open at 8 AM Mon. Feb. 23 2015. Spots are first come, first served and they fill up quickly.

Early Goals will be offered for players ages 30 months to 4 years old throughout the area this Spring including in Savannah, Wilmington Is., Pooler, Rincon, Bloomingdale, Richmond Hill.

Savannah United Early Goals

Give your child’s soccer future a kick start and sign up for Savannah’s largest program for the smallest kids. Since 2006, Early Goals has been Savannah’s choice for training future soccer stars. Early Goals is a fun, engaging, action-packed soccer program specifically designed to cater for the youngest players ages 30 months to 4 years old. Coaches will work on simple coordination, ball familiarity, listening skills, teamwork and hopefully plant the seed for a lifetime of soccer enjoyment. With one session a week, Early Goals is a safe, non-competitive environment which focuses on the fundamentals of the ’beautiful game’.

Early Goals Cost

The program fee for Early Goals is $65 for 6 sessions over 6 weeks. On occasion, Early Goals will add a $20 facility fee when training takes place indoors.

Spots are first come first served, and fill up very quickly. Parents are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.

Registration will open on Monday, February 23 at 8:00am.

There will be a waiting list for each session, however, those spots rarely become available. We encourage parents to find a different day / time option if your preferred session is full.
