Enter the all-virtual world of SCAD GamingFest for conversations and panel discussions with top game developers, exclusive access to new SCAD games and content, and insights from industry leaders about one of the fastest growing industries worldwide.

Lots of exciting things happening during this event including SCAD Game Studios ‘The Making of Zoelie’ presentation that discusses how SCAD students from interactive design and game development, animation, sound design, visual effects and more came together to create the game ‘Zoelie’.

‘Zoelie’ will be one of the several SCAD student-created games that can be downloaded during the SCAD GamingFest and played by audiences at home.

You can also watch a SCAD vs. SCAD eSports competition through the Twitch takeover with Skillshot Media or listen to SCAD alumni speak about how SCAD prepared them for their jobs in the gaming and entertainment industry and what exciting things they are working on now.

Artbotics – Rising 3rd-5th Graders
July 12-16 2021
$200 per participant

Interactive Art is the focus of this week of STEAM! Come build, paint, and program your creations to light up, move, and interact with their environments.

Ever used science or math to create an artistic masterpiece? How about coding to write a song? Artbotics is a program designed to bring your creativity to life and have fun along the way! Each participant will create their own unique and interactive piece of artwork using a combination of traditional art mediums, coding, and robotics. The week will be capped off with a gallery showing for family and friends.

Maker Camp – Rising 6th – 8th Graders
July 19-23 2021

Make, build, and code your way through the week with a series of hands-on projects.

Maker Camp is a week like no other! Each day will have you working on a different hands-on project that you get to keep and take home for continued fun and learning. Five unique projects over 5 amazing days! Ever build a robot or made wearable electronics? This is your chance to build all that and more.

Jolly Goblin Games in Savannah will offer an all-day Winter Break Free Play STEAM Camp for six days, including the Saturday before Christmas. This STEAM Camp is for ages 7-14.

Kids will have a blast on PCs, PS4s, XBox Ones, and WiiU, plus they might even learn a new board game or two along the way.

These camps will last all day, with options for early drop-off and late pick-up, plus students can order lunch from The Chromatic Dragon right next door (or bring a lunch/snacks from home). Students may also bring snacks and drinks from home and/or bring money to purchase them.

You can sign up for all six days or just pick and choose which days you want.

Early drop-off and late pick-up will be available for an additional fee.

I’m a Maker Summer Camp – Micro Drones

What could be more fun than flying a drone? Building one yourself! In this 4-day summer camp kids will design, build, and fly their very own micro drones. Drawing Portfolio Builder Camp

This four-day camp is designed to help upper-elementary and middle school students improve their drawing skills and begin the process of developing a portfolio. Students will focus on measurement, proportion, perspective, and use of value to create volume and space. The camp will also include practice portraiture and sketching from clothed models.

The Drawing Portfolio Builder Camp is a great class for students to learn and advance the skills necessary for developing art portfolios.

This intensive, weeklong program focuses on black-and-white and digital photography, as well as the basic functions of 35mm manual cameras. While instructors emphasize the advancements of digital media and Adobe Photoshop, they will also cover conventional methods of film photography, including pinhole cameras, to supplement the experience.

The camp features student use of both manual and digital cameras. The program will culminate with a reception and exhibition of the participants’ work in the Jepson Center.

Raising STEAM: Technology, Art, and Electronics

This comprehensive STEAM Camp gives young people the opportunity to explore the artistic potential of technology. In this weeklong camp, students will learn to use a variety of technologies and methods to create and express themselves.

Students will explore 3D printing, create images with Adobe Photoshop, and solder their own electronic-noise toys. Participants will also learn basic computer programming with Arduino microcontrollers. The program culminates with a reception and exhibition of the participants’work in the Jepson Center.

Each day, this camp will feature a different local artist providing a unique lesson based on his or her medium. Lunch in Telfair Square (weather permitting), breaks and games in ArtZeum, and special tours of the galleries are all included. Students will learn to give constructive criticism on their own and their peers’ artwork. The program culminates with a student art exhibition and a reception in the Jepson Center.

Full STEAM ahead! In this weeklong camp, students will build their own video games. Students will explore, play, and learn computer programming from scratch using open-source game-making programs. The summer camp culminates with a reception and exhibition of the participants’ games in the Jepson Center’s Morrison Community Gallery.

Stave off summer doldrums! Exploring Telfair Museums’ three sites and exhibitions has never been so much fun. Each day, participants will tour a new exhibit and learn to create the very same types of art seen in the galleries. Find inspiration with instruction in drawing, painting, and printmaking. Students immerse themselves in innovative arts lessons taught by professional artists.

Crafters Camp

The Ultimate Crafty Kids Camp is packed with a variety of projects: screen printing, knitting, friendship bracelets, calligraphy folder paper, and much more. In this weeklong camp, students will explore and learn techniques in a rich variety of crafts that will inspire and develop their desire to be independent makers.

Video Game Design with Scratch

This summer camp teaches beginning students how to create their own video game using Scratch, a colorful programming environment that makes it easy to bring interactive stories to life. In class, students collaborate on developing a game from the beginning to final polish. A fun and informative way to introduce younger students to the art of video game development.

This summer camp is about all things soldering for 7-10 year olds. Soldering is a fun and simple skill to bring all your projects to life! Each day will feature new soldering projects with everything from intruder alarms to light up badges. No prior experience is required as this class is taught at a beginner level.
