Music with Mar: music and movement parent-and-me class, Savannah & Wilmington Island

We’re thrilled to learn that Music with Mar classes are restarting in Savannah & will now also be offered on Wilmington Island, too!

Music with Mar is a popular, fun & smart music & movement parent-and-me class.

Classes will be in Savannah & Wilmington Island:
*11 AM Tuesdays in the music room of St James Catholic Church (8412 Whitfield Ave. Fronts on Montgomery Cross Road), Savannah;
*10:45 AM and 4:30 PM Thursdays at Wilmington Island Presbyterian.

Classes are expected to start next week, the week of Nov. 5.

For children ages 6 months-6 years old and a parent/caregiver. Cost is $7/class per family (up to 4 children) or a block of 5 classes (to be used any time during a 2 month period) is $30. For more information, email email megkitchens@gmail.com  .

Register for Affordable Visual Art Classes, Workshops including Parent-Child Clay Session at S.P.A.C.E., Savannah

Savannah’s Place for Art, Culture, and Education (S.P.A.C.E.) is now registering students for Session 5 classes and workshops. Day and evening sessions are offered for children, teens, and adults in all skill levels.

Sessions began October 26 and run through December 14. All classes and workshops are held at the Department of Cultural Affairs studio S.P.A.C.E. located at 9 W. Henry Street.

Six week classes are available, as well as weekend workshops. New classes and workshops this session include a Cartooning workshop where students learn basic cartooning techniques and begin creating their own cartoon characters. In the six-week Beginning Lapidary Arts class students learn how to polish rocks and begin creating free-form designs for jewelry. The Holiday Clay Ornament workshop will give students the chance to create their own personalized holiday ornaments and decorations from clay slabs.

Class fees include instruction, use of studio space, use of equipment and all materials and tools required. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Credit cards are accepted. JumpBunch of Greater Savannah is currently offering classes in Savannah and Richmond Hill at Children’s Village, PALS, Early Learning, Maggies Morning School, Richmond Hill Montessori, Southern Montessori & many more locations.

JumpBunch of Greater Savannah has new 9-week sessions starting in Richmond Hill & Berwick.

Berwick sessions are on Oct 2-Nov 27 2012. The class offered will be Tuesday morning at 9:30 am located at Coastal Cathedral at 275 Berwick Blvd. in Berwick. FREE INTRODUCTORY CLASS: Sept. 25 at 9:30 AM.

Richmond Hill sessions are Oct 1-Nov 26 2012. The class offered will be Tuesday morning at 9:30 am located at New Life Worship at 16252 Hwy 144 in Richmond Hill Ga. FREE INTRODUCTORY CLASS OFFERED Sept 24 at 9:30 AM.

JumpBunch Details

Cost for the 9 week sessions: $72.00

Each week, JumpBunch offers a cardio workout, muscle resistance training and introduces a new sport activity in a fun, hands-on, non-competitive environment. At this stage, the goal is to build confidence and coordination.

Some of the fun sports offered are: Lacrosse, Hockey, Football, Soccer, Bowling, Kickball, Cheerleading and parachute games and best of all equipment for each class will be available for each child. No equipment to buy!!

Membership is $12. Financial aid available. Adult volunteers are always needed; girls are waiting to become Girl Scouts but there are not enough adult volunteers.

Benefits of Girl Scouts include: bonding; better school performance; community involvement; new friendships.

Stroller Strides of Savannah Is Expanding To Richmond Hill

Stroller Strides® of Savannah  – a total fitness program that moms can do with their babies – will offer classes at JF Gregory Park in Richmond Hill starting in October.

Richmond Hill classes – which include power walking and intervals of strength training – will be on MWF at 9:30 am and will begin Monday Oct. 1, 2012 .

Classes are designed for all moms with any level of exercise. Certified instructors will guide you through exercises that will strengthen your bodies and give you the energy you need for the awesome gift of motherhood.

Classes already being held in Savannah

Savannah Classes are 8 AM Tuesdays & Thursdays at Lake Mayer. The first class is free and Stroller Strides of Savannah will offer a special discount if you mention you heard about Stroller Strides of Savannah on SouthernMamas.com!

How can I sign up ?

Register for your free class by clicking here and see all the different class packages offered, by clicking on the “More Info” button in one of the class boxes on the left. You can sign up for any class package when you show up for class, with your instructor.

What if my baby is fussy?

Stroller Strides of Savannah welcomes babies from 6 weeks to any age. Babies are Stroller Strides’ priority, so don’t worry if yours is fussy!

What should I bring to class?

* Water
* A towel, blanket or yoga mat for ab exercises and stretching
* A hat and/or sunscreen
* Anything you may think your baby needs ( snacks, bottles, sippy cups, toys, potty training toilet)
* A stroller ( any stroller will do as long as it does not tip over)

What should I wear to class ?
Wear something comfortable that you can move ( power walk,jog, stretch) easily in. Please make sure that you have comfortable tennis shoes on.

Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to class so you don’t get left behind.
