SouthCoast Health: What every parent needs to know about measles

    May 25th, 2025

SouthCoast Health on how to help prevent measles

Measles is more than just a rash. It can lead to dangerous complications like pneumonia, brain swelling (encephalitis), or even death, especially in unvaccinated individuals.

SouthCoast Health experts share how you can help prevent measles here as well as some of the most concerning complications associated with measles including:

About 1 in 5 unvaccinated people who contract measles will require hospitalization.

In rare but tragic cases, 1 to 3 out of every 1,000 infected children may die.

Measles can weaken the immune system, leaving children more vulnerable to other infections like subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), a rare but fatal brain disorder that can appear years after recovery.

SCAD presents The Drowsy Chaperone musical @ Lucas Theatre, Savannah

    May 5th, 2025

The Drowsy Chaperone musical @ Lucas Theatre in Savannah

Step into a Broadway time capsule with The Drowsy Chaperone, presented by SCAD’s School of Film and Acting, May 22 – 25 2025 at the Lucas Theatre in Savannah.

The Drowsy Chaperone is a musical-within-a-musical that brings the glitz and glamour of 1920s Broadway to life. Running from May 22–25 at Savannah’s historic Lucas Theatre for the Arts, this Tony Award-winning comedy follows a lonely theater enthusiast—known only as “Man in Chair”—who escapes into the world of his favorite forgotten musical.

As he plays the original cast recording, the show bursts into life in his apartment, complete with mistaken identities, tap-dancing groomsmen, and a delightfully tipsy chaperone. Don’t miss this whimsical journey through Broadway’s past!
