Autism spectrum disorder refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. The therapists at The Speech Clinic of the Coastal Empire can help assess and treat many of these developmental areas.
The term “spectrum” reflects the wide variation in challenges and strengths possessed by each person with autism. It is important that each person receives an in-depth evaluation and personalized therapy goals to receive the most success. Our therapists have experience with children at all levels on the spectrum and take pride in making therapy as functional for the family as possible.
Do you have concerns about your child’s expressive language? Are they talking as much as they should? Do they understand simple directions? Is it hard to understand your child’s speech?
Children develop speech and language skills at different rates and it can be challenging to determine if they are on the right track. The therapists at The Speech Clinic of the Coastal Empire can help! We complete in-depth evaluations and assess all aspects of communication.

St. Andrew’s School students won first place in the Gray’s Reef Regional MATE ROV 2022 competition, Navigator Class, in Savannah.
Students were tasked with designing, constructing, and piloting remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to complete a number of underwater challenges. Their winning design was created to benefit the planet by performing underwater tasks such as gathering polutants, retrieving samples, and minor repairs.
Under the direction of St. Andrew’s faculty members, Maria Dixon and Dr. Kristin Peney, the students began designing their version of a ROV in the fall. After building three prototypes, the team continued to improve upon the final version until days before the competition.
