Applications now accepted for Oatland Wildlife Leaders (O.W.L.s) volunteers, Savannah

How to apply to become an Oatland Wildlife Leader (O.W.L.)

Applications are now being accepted for teens (8th-12th grade students) interested in joining Oatland Island Wildlife Center’s team and gain valuable volunteer experience while developing a deeper understanding of wildlife and environmental conservation.

Learn about Oatland’s animal collection and share your knowledge through outreach programs and various events as you sharpen your public speaking and workplace skills.

The Oatland Wildlife Leaders program (OWL) is offered to rising 8th through 12th graders. This multi-year, progressive program builds on material with each session. Each session lasts 6 weeks and meets weekly on Thursday afternoons from 3:45- 5:30PM. OWL participants are expected to complete the first two 6- week sessions. Once the certificate of completion has been earned, the option to advance to the third session is available.

If you are only looking to fulfill your community service hours for school requirements, Oatland does have other volunteer opportunities throughout the year for teenagers, please click here for more information.
