Mountainfilm on Tour Savannah’s Free Family Movie Night is scheduled for 6PM Sat. Aug. 6, 2022, and will screen a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and incredibly inspiring documentary films curated from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado.
The outdoor screening at Ships of the Sea Museums and Gardens in Savannah brings back an encore presentation of the festival’s Family Matinee. The playlist includes a stellar collection of hand-picked short films that explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission of using the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.
The free event kicks off Sat. Aug. 6 @ 5PM, with a social hour and concessions in the outdoor gardens at Ships of the Sea Museum. Guests can enjoy food trucks & free popcorn. The films begin at 6PM and are appropriate for the whole family.
Here’s a fun, fit, affordable summer spots camp happening July 18-22 2022 hosted by the Recreation and Wellness Department at Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus in Savannah.
Kids will participate in a variety of activities to include; basketball, flag football, kickball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, tag games, and nutritional and environmental presentations!

This is a fun, intensive leadership course for ages 8-15. No martial arts experience is required.
There are two, five day (Monday to Friday) training programs. The first week is the basic program and the second week is the intermediate and advance program. The basic program is geared towards students with limited or no experience .For those with any experience the first week will be a continuation of basic foundations and techniques.
Students that participate in both weeks may test to be promoted one belt level up, presented with a certificate of participation and a certificate of promotion and a belt embroidered with their name.

Our seventh annual jazz clinic is a combination of private lessons, small combos, with instruction in theory/improv geared towards beginning students beginning their journey into jazz and improvisation. Only one year of playing experience is required for this clinic. Please note that the registration fee is separate from tuition. This clinic also includes an all-day music trip to Savannah on Wednesday, June 22 with lunch provided. This new program is offered as a way for guitarists to have a grasp on how to play jazz in a non-competitive setting. This program is a highly recommended for any guitarists who also plan on attending the Hilton Head Jazz Camp. Hilton Head Jazz Camp (recommended ages 14-20, tuition $449): A full day camp with 18 full-time professional faculty from across the country (July 11-16, 9am-4pm) concluding with a camp recital and finale performance. With a combination of large big bands, small combos, theory, improv, elective courses, masterclasses and performances, this premier jazz camp is geared towards intermediate to advanced middle and high school students. With an additional vocal jazz and strings program, we offer something for every music student! Tuition also includes a daily chef-prepared lunch & all daytime activities, masterclasses, and 2 complimentary tickets to the finale performance on July 16th at 2pm. Students should have had 3+ years of playing experience, but no audition is required for entry into the camp. Soccer specialty camps include opportunities for goalkeepers and players between the ages of 13 and 19 preparing for their fall season.
This is a one-of-a-kind experience for middle school girls in Chatham county to learn about marine science (underwater robots), and to design and program a playable game around this theme all under the guidance of female scientists, game designers, and programmers.
WHEN: July 11-15, 9AM – 2PM WHERE: Georgia Southern’s Armstrong Campus *Transportation and lunch included. The program is free to all participants.
DAY 1: Start the week with a field trip to UGA’s Marine Education Center and Aquarium, where attendees will spend a day with the female scientists running UGA’s marine science underwater robotics program, and learn about how they use coding with underwater robots to study the ocean.
DAY 2: Attendees will work with a SCAD game professor designing a game around the information they learned at Skidaway, and then be introduced to the Scratch programming tool, an easy to use block based programming toolkit from MIT.
DAYS 3-5: Attendees will work with Savannah Girls Who Code instructor to implement their designs using Scratch. This will include learning a variety of important and fundamental computer programming concepts. Attendees will have a completed game to show on the final day of camp, and will have a .
This camp is open to grads 5th – 8th for young women attending school in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System. It is designed for girls who have no coding experience.
There are 20 spots available. Applicants will be accepted in the order of their submission.
This half-day camp will spend most of the morning outside. The program will develop your young person’s skills as a photographer. We believe that all young people are artists. With that in mind, we will approach photography as professionals do, studying the Elements of Art. The camp will meet outside as much as possible during morning hours as we explore our environment in Telfair Square and other nearby locations. We will use DSLR digital cameras and learn about exposure and a few historical methods involving film. Photography is fun and accessible to everyone.
This half-day camp will spend most of the morning outside drawing and painting from observation. The camp is designed to help upper-elementary and middle school students improve their drawing and painting skills, build a portfolio, and begin the process of developing good art-making habits. The camp will meet outside as much as possible during morning hours as we explore our environment in Telfair Square and other nearby locations. Students will focus on measurement, proportion, perspective, use of value, and color to create volume and space.

Stave off the summer doldrums! Exploring Telfair Museums’ three sites and exhibitions has never been so much fun. Each day, participants will tour a new exhibit and learn to create the very same types of art seen in the galleries, finding inspiration with instruction in drawing, painting, and printmaking. Students will immerse themselves in innovative arts lessons taught by professional artists.
Art with the Pros Ages 10 – 14 One-week 9AM – 1PM June 20 – 24 June 27 – July 1 Members: $185 Non-members $210
Each day, this camp will feature a different local artist providing a unique lesson based on his or her medium. Lunch in Telfair Square (weather permitting) breaks and games in ArtZeum, and special tours of the galleries are all included. Students will learn to give constructive criticism on their own and their peers’ artwork.
Junior University/World Language and Pre-AP Camps will take place June 1-17 (13 days) 2022 at the Armstrong Campus of Georgia Southern University in Savannah.
This year, World Language is integrated into both camps.
Camp hours are 9AM – 2PM. Students are encouraged to bring lunch and snacks.
Bus transportation will be provided to Armstrong from “hub” schools throughout the district.
Junior University and World Language Camp focuses on students in grades 2-7.
Pre-AP Camp focuses on students in grades 8-10.
There is a $100 fee to participate in camps. The fee covers supplies and field trips.
These camps are available ONLY for SCCPSS students (including charter schools).
