Offers one-to-one tutoring specifically designed for any student who may require additional or specialized support.

Summer Programs 2017 at The Tutoring Center at Royce in Savannah offer a wide variety of options:

SUMMER SCHOOL – A five-week summer school program for students who need to strengthen academic skills. Small classes focus on Reading, Writing, English and Mathematics.
June 12 – July 13, Monday – Thursday, 8:30am – 12pm
Grades: 1st – 5th & 6th – 8th 
Tuition:  $ 900 (does not include registration fee. Need based scholarships sometimes available)
Registration Fee:  $75
Submit Summer School payment in full by May 15th to receive 5% discount

 

ENRICHMENT CAMP – A five-week afternoon enrichment camp experience that can be enjoyed on its own, or in conjunction with our Summer School or tutoring programs. Camp will focus on character building, communication and social skills along with time for summer reading lists, games, team building and more.
June 12 – July 13, Monday – Thursday, 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Grades: 1st – 8th 
Tuition: $110 week / $500 for 5 weeks
Registration Fee:  $50*
(waived if enrolled in other Summer Programs)

 

STUDY SKILLS – Study Skills is a program designed to help students in 6th – 12th grades learn to study efficiently and effectively, leading to greater success in school.

Session I     June 19 – 22   1pm – 5pm
Session II    June 26 – 29    1pm – 5pm

Grades: Entering 6th – 12th 
Tuition: $ 200 / Session  (does not include registration fee)

TUTORING CENTER – The Tutoring Center at Royce Learning Center offers a one-on-one, individually designed tutoring program for each student, based on his or her academic needs. Each student receives an individual tutoring plan and is placed with a tutor based on his or her academic needs.

$100 Testing Fee (When not included in Tutoring Contract)

Ocearch program on Lowcountry Shark Research Expedition (kids are free), Savannah

Join Chris Fischer, OCEARCH Expedition Leader and Founding Chairman, on Feb. 26, 2-4PM for a presentation about the upcoming Lowcountry Research Expedition at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah. Kids are free. Adults are $25 each.

OCEARCH and its team of collaborating scientists are embarking on their 28th expedition, and the first of the year, to tag mature white sharks in the Lowcountry, which includes GA, SC, and NC.

The team’s goal is to gather data on the ecology, physiology, and behavior of sharks in the Atlantic Ocean, and to increase the sample size of the research started in 2012 in Cape Cod, MA.

The program highlight key factors for the team’s success, including a multi-disciplined data-driven approach, inclusion, collaboration and most importantly – the means to engage future generations of scientists.

Applications due March 7 for free, lottery-funded Pre-K for 2017-18

Pre-K registration lottery application Savannah Chatham County Free, lottery-funded Pre-K for 2017-2018 school year

This free, state-funded Pre-K at some Savannah-Chatham public schools is open to all children who are 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 residing in Chatham County.

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has 60 Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K classes with additional classes at Coastal Empire Montessori.  See the list of Savannah-Chatham public schools that offer the free Pre-K here.

Pre-K applications for the free, lottery-funded Pre-K programs for 2017-18 at Savannah-Chatham County public schools will be available online here starting Feb. 21 2017 until March 6 2017. Applications & required documents are due March 7 2017. The lottery will be April 4 2017.

The deadline to submit required documents to one of the selected schools is March 7, 2017. Applications cannot be processed without these documents.

This free, state-funded Pre-K is open to all children who are 4 years old on or by Sept. 1. Details here.

Spend the night in Georgia’s oldest brick fort and experience history firsthand.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2017 “Old Fort Jackson Family Campover,” the annual event for families to experience history firsthand in a 207-year-old National Landmark. Purchase tickets online here.

The campoover will be Friday, March 3 at 5PM through Saturday, March 4 at 9AM at Old Fort Jackson, 1 Fort Jackson Rd, Savannah, GA 31404.

During the event children will train as soldiers from the American Revolution and participate in a reenactment of the 1778 Battle of Savannah. Adults will have the opportunity to train as Civil War soldiers and learn the drill for the 12 lb. howitzer, our historic cannon, and fire the weapon.

Tent setup will begin at 5PM. Dinner will be served at 6:15PM followed by fun military activities. The night will end with smores, historic songs and games. The next morning campers will rise, pack up their gear, enjoy breakfast and participate in the event closing ceremonies.

Preregistration and prepayment are required and tickets are $55 for children ages 6 to 15 years of age. Tickets are $35 for adults 16 years of age and older, with an optional black powder demonstration add-on costing $50.

Elementary and middle school charter schools in Savannah-Chatham area have a separate application process and different deadlines than Savannah-Chatham County public school choice programs. Contact the charter school of your choice for more detailed information on their application process.

Registration is now open for Night at the Museum 2017 @ Savannah History Museum happening Sat. Jan. 21 at 3:30PM, 5PM & 6:30PM.

Explore the museum, interact with historical characters in many of Savannah History Museum’s lively exhibits and catch one of the screenings of Night at the Museum 3: The Secret of the Tomb (rated PG) in Savannah History Museum’s theater.

Train as a Museum Night Guard
One of the most important jobs in a museum is the night guard. Join our exclusive training program and become an honorary Savannah History Museum Night Guard. Don’t miss this special opportunity!

Watch Night at the Museum
Event participants will also have two opportunities to view “Night at the Museum 3: Secret of the Tomb” (PG) in Savannah History Museum’s theater at 1:30PM and 7PM. The 98-minute film screening is optional and seating is first come, first served.

Exhibits Come To Life
Interact with characters from Savannah History Museum’s exhibits as the historical figures appear to magically come to life. This year’s characters include: Juliette Gordon Low, Johnny Mercer, Forrest Gump, a Central of Georgia Railroad worker, a Revolutionary War soldier and more!

Savannah private Schools St. Andrew's School Wilmington Is. St. Andrew’s School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kelley Waldron as the next Head of School for St. Andrew’s. After serving as Interim Head of School for the past several months, Dr. Waldron received unanimous support from both the Head of School Search Committee and the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Waldron has been a part of the St. Andrew’s community since 2002. In that time, she has served as Director of Admissions, Academic Dean of the Upper School, Director of Studies, International Baccalaureate Coordinator, Lower School Head, teacher, mentor and so much more.

Dr. Waldron is an alumna of Leadership Savannah, serves on the board of Savannah Horizons, is co-founder of Teach the Future Fellowship, and was selected as a 2015 Rising Star by Savannah Magazine.
Last year, in preparation for the Head of School search, the Board of Trustees compiled a profile for an ideal candidate to lead the school. The Search committee found Dr. Waldron to possess the qualifications and characteristics that St. Andrew’s needs to prepare all students for the world of tomorrow. She has a strong understanding of the St. Andrew’s mission and holds student welfare at the core of each decision. Her history of success in leadership roles and her position in the forefront of educational innovation make her an asset to the community.
