Winter 2017 is the time to plan for which school you want your child to attend for the 2017-2018 school year. The application process is open for Savannah-Chatham choice schools (previously known as specialty schools). as well as for most Savannah-area charter schools.

Savannah-Chatham choice schools are the public schools that have an application process and lottery.

Application window for the Savannah-Chatham choice schools closes Feb. 3, 2017.

Lottery notification date is March 7, 2017. Registration closes March 31, 2017.

Elementary and middle school charter schools in Savannah-Chatham area have a separate application process and different deadlines. Contact the charter school of your choice for more detailed information on their application process.

Oglethorpe Charter School (Middle School, 6th-8th grades) Application process is open. The application can be printed from Oglethorpe Charter School Web site or picked up from the school. Deadline: All applications must be hand-delivered to the school by Jan. 17, 2017

The 2017-2018 lottery is Jan. 19, 2017 at 9AM. The lottery results will be posted on Oglethorpe Charter School Web site on Jan. 20, 2017 by noon.

Tybee Island Maritime Academy (Kindergarten-5th grade). Application process is open. Apply online here. Deadline: Feb. 10, 2017. 

The lottery will be Feb. 13, 2017 at 6:30PM. Notifications of acceptance or wait list status will be done during the week of Feb. 13-17, 2017. Registration deadline for those accepted is March 3, 2017.

Free, lottery-funded Pre-K for 2017-2018 school year

This free, state-funded Pre-K at some Savannah-Chatham public schools is open to all children who are 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 residing in Chatham County.

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has 60 Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K classes with additional classes at Coastal Empire Montessori.  See the list of Savannah-Chatham public schools that offer the free Pre-K here.

Pre-K applications for the free, lottery-funded Pre-K programs for 2017-18 at Savannah-Chatham County public schools will be available online here starting Feb. 21 2017 until March 6 2017. Applications & required documents are due March 7 2017. The lottery will be April 4 2017.

The deadline to submit required documents to one of the selected schools is March 7, 2017. Applications cannot be processed without these documents.

This free, state-funded Pre-K is open to all children who are 4 years old on or by Sept. 1. Details here. 

Some Savannah private preschools and childcare facilities also offer the state-funded, free Pre-K program and have different application deadlines. Please contact those facilities for their application deadlines.
