FREE Screening of the Documentary “The Business of Being Born”, Savannah

 Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah will host a FREE screening of the documentary film “The Business of Being Born”, 6 to 8 PM Wed. April 4, 2012.

The award-winning film will be followed by a discussion with local health professionals. The screening will be at University Hall, Room 156, Armstrong Campus, 11935 Abercorn St., Savannah.

“The Business of Being Born” is about the implications of the medicalization of childbirth and the ways in which many women are turning away from invasive medical models of delivery. It examines modern models of child delivery in America and what some women are doing to take back their rights to birth.

This event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Center for Public Health Media and Research , the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health & the Armstrong Master of Public Health program. Contact Leigh Rich at leigh.rich@armstrong.edu for more information.

An Interactive Children’s Museum’s hosts a weekly “Imagination Hour” every Thursday, at 10:30 am. Join us for a story time followed by a related arts and crafts project. Each month features a fun and unique theme and is geared for children age 5 and under; siblings and guests are welcome as well. Classes are designed for parents and caregivers to interact and assist their child with the art project and everyone is encouraged to stay and play in the museum following the program.

The Imagination Hour program cost is included in the museum admission fee and in our Family Membership annual fee. Join us each week and have fun learning about a variety of subjects ranging from nature, recycling, nursery rhymes, health and wellness, and science. October Programs are Halloween themed.

The Sandbox is located at 18-A Pope Avenue, next to St. Andrew By-The-Sea United Methodist Church.
