This one of a kind, experiential, interactive holiday lights event will surely become a beloved family holiday tradition for years to come.

November 23, 2012 through January 1, 2013
Wednesday – Sundays weekly (open December 24, 25, 30 & January 1) 6 – 10 PM

Visitors can park at the Pit and Paddock at the end of the drive-through and partake in a variety of festive family-friendly activities, snack on tasty treats, warm up by the bonfire with hot chocolate and a s’more and enjoy all the sights and sounds of the holidays. Special weekend programming is scheduled throughout the season to enhance this experience and includes an opening ceremony with the arrival of Santa who will illuminate the lights, live scenes from A Christmas Carol and the second annual Alive in Savannah on New Year’s weekend.

This event is supported by the Savannah Harbor Foundation, a 501(3)c non-profit charitable organization founded in 2001 after 9/11. Proceeds from the Festival of Lights benefit AWOL, Bethesda Academy, The Interfaith Hospitality Network, Greenbriar Children’s Center, Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society and Performance Initiative. A fundraising booth will be set up in the Pit and Paddock benefiting The Empty Stocking Fund, and a canned food drive will be held for Lighthouse Ministry.

Best local holiday light displays.  Planning on driving around and checking out the best local holiday house decorations? From giant Santa snow globes to computerized Christmas lights animated with music, we have your guide to local home holiday light displays.

Displays not to be missed include:

1. The Whitemarsh Island home of the Kesslers. In the Battery point subdivision at 105 Mapmaker Lane: computerized “dancing” lights display animated with music. Lights choreographed to blink, twink and fade in red, blue, green and white, in sync with a custom-mixed soundtrack of holiday tunes.

2. A beloved old-fashioned holiday yard display that on certain nights features hot chocolate for visitors and even Santa visits at 512 Gordonston Ave., Savannah.(UPDATE: on 12/1/12 this display was still in the prep stages & not ready yet. But this favorite is expected to be up again & glowing this season!)

Ones that we haven’t checked out yet this year but in the past have been great. We’ve been told many of these are still brillant this year.
