Savannah pediatricians: When it Comes to Pediatric Wellness Exams, Sooner is Better than Later

Even in the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the best ways to productively spend downtime during summer is by scheduling a pediatrics appointment to complete a yearly check-up, SouthCoast Health Pediatrician Dr. David Mozer  said.

SouthCoast Health pediatricians say annual wellness exams are critical in maintaining the health and happiness of your child, and knocking these out during summer avoids many potential problems.

SouthCoast Health pediatrics practices have taken extreme precautions to keep their offices safe for patient visits.

SouthCoast Health pediatrician Dr. K. Blain Crosland

SouthCoast Health pediatrician Dr. K. Blain Crosland shared suggestions to think through before you participate in those classic summer family activities to prevent contracting or spreading coronavirus on WTOC-TV’s Morning Break.

“We do think that it’s less likely to spread in an outdoor environment,” said Dr. Crosland. “There’s a couple reasons for that. First, you can just get more distanced outside. Secondly, you’re not recirculating air like indoors with A/C.”

Along with wearing masks and practicing social distancing when possible, watch Dr. Crosland’s appearance here to learn more about keeping safe during this COVID-19 summer.

SouthCoast Health experts answer ‘Can I go outside during the pandemic?

Sunday, June 28th, 2020

southcoast health pediatricians Savannah Chatham county

The experts at SouthCoast Health in Savannah answer the question “Can I Go Outside During the Coronavirus Pandemic?”

The good news is the answer to this question is yes! You can still go outside and enjoy the fresh air, as long as you follow safety guidelines. In fact, many health experts recommend it. Going outside means you’re getting a break from being stuck in quarantine and soaking in some much-needed vitamin D.

But, if you do plan to go outside, make sure to follow these safety tips:

Since the coronavirus is spread through droplets made through actions such as coughing or sneezing, it’s best to still wear a mask if you plan to go outside. This will protect you from those droplets.

It’s best to keep up social distancing measures. Still plan to keep about six feet away from everyone around you. The good news is that it’s easier to do this while exploring outside versus being stuck in close corridors inside.

If you are in the high-risk category, unfortunately for you it is best to stay indoors still, unless you plan to sit outside or walk around in your own yard where you know no one else will enter.

The final conscious is: yes. It’s safe to go outside during the coronavirus pandemic. Make sure to follow the guidelines above.

Any more questions about the coronavirus pandemic? The experts at SouthCoast Health can help. Click here to schedule an appointment or call at 912-691-3600.

SouthCoast Health: Schedule pediatric exams sooner, rather than later

Monday, June 22nd, 2020

Mozer Savannah pediatricians SouthCoast

Summer is an ideal time to schedule a pediatrics appointment to complete a yearly check-up.

SouthCoast Health pediatric experts say annual wellness exams are critical in maintaining the health and happiness of your child, and knocking these out at the beginning of the summer versus at the end avoids many potential problems.

SouthCoast Health facilities have taken precautions to keep their offices safe for patient visits, said SouthCoast Health Pediatrician Dr. David Mozer.

“Our offices become so hectic at the end of the summer when school is about to begin again. Because of this we always encourage parents to bring their kids in at the beginning of the summer to avoid the back to school rush,” Dr. Mozer said. “This also ensures the child and parent have more quality time with their pediatrician and gives parents peace of mind through summer months usually filled with lots of travel.”

Still not convinced to schedule an early-summer pediatrics wellness visit?

Check out these four main reasons the proactive approach is best.

southcoast health pediatrics dr. webb

Need an example of strength and resilience?

You’ll find it in the parents featured on the SouthCoast Health Web site posted entitled SouthCoast Pediatrician and Wife Raise Awareness for Childhood Cancer.

The post spotlights SouthCoast Health pediatrician Dr. William Webb and wife Danielle, a clinical pediatric dietitian at Memorial Health, who are continuing to fight for childhood cancer research after the death of their son four years ago. Three-year-old William Webb II of Savannah faced a rare form of childhood cancer, stage IV neuroblastoma, with remarkable spirit.

“He would want us to get out there and improve the situation for others,” Dr. Webb says in the post.

William’s parents have created the nonprofit Warriors for William Foundation to raise money for childhood cancer research. The foundation’s logo is an outline of a boy in a superhero costume, a direct nod to their son.

The Warriors for William Foundation hosts fundraising events including the Warriors for William 5K. The sixth annual race returns Oct. 28 2018 at J.F. Gregory Park in Richmond Hill.
