The third annual Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon, presented by Dr. Mark Kamaleson of Optim Orthopedics, will be Saturday, September 12, in and around Lake Mayer and the Chatham County Aquatic Center in Savannah.
Participants and volunteers can register by going to www.runsignup.com and type in “Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon.”
The Triathlon is for youth ages 7 to 15 and this year a relay option has been added. The top three male and female finishers and the top three relay teams in each age category (7-9; 10-12; and 13-15) will receive a medal and all participants will receive a ribbon.
The swim, bike, and run event is unique to coastal Georgia. The event helps promote water, bicycle, and sports safety and is also a fundraiser for Safe Kids Savannah. Funds raised through the Triathlon help to purchase items such as bicycle helmets, child safety seats, and life jackets that can be distributed throughout local communities.
Packet pick-up along with bike inspections and helmet checks* will take place on Friday, September 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chatham County Aquatic Center located at 7240 Sallie Mood Drive.
*All bicycles and bicycle helmets must be inspected by Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon staff in order to be used in the triathlon.
