Plant Riverside District will host a free community event honoring Kwanzaa on Tues. Dec. 26 2023 with master storyteller Lillian Grant-Baptiste. This celebration is free and open to the public and will take place at Plant Riverside District, which is on Savannah’s historic riverfront at 400 W. River St.
On Tues. Dec. 26, the first day of Kwanzaa, Plant Riverside District invites all to join in a community event at 5:30PM at Beethoven’s Terrace. This free evening Kwanzaa program will feature Lillian Grant-Baptiste, an informed cultural artist, motivational speaker and master storyteller who will share stories about Kwanzaa, focusing upon the holiday’s rich history and the significance of its seven core principles, highlighting the first day core principle of Unity.
Following this event, attendees will have an opportunity to visit Baobab Lounge, where they can meet Grant-Baptiste. There will be a selection of specialty drinks and bites from a Kwanzaa-inspired menu.
This celebratory menu will be available at Baobab Lounge from Tuesday, Dec. 26 through Sunday, Dec. 31 during the seven days of Kwanzaa. Guest will enjoy the opportunity to visit a traditional altar featuring the Kinara candleholder, plus white flowers will be available for guests to float down the Savannah River in honor of their ancestors.
On Friday, Dec. 29, Plant Riverside District will highlight local Black entrepreneurs to celebrate the principle of Ujamaa. Guests who purchase items from Hall of Sneakz and Rhoot Man Beverage Company at the Savannah Christmas Market will receive a special 10% discount at Baobab Lounge.

Back by popular demand just in time for the holiday season, visit Savannah’s iconic movie palace for a historic theater tour and demonstration of its recently-restored original 1925 Wurlitzer theater organ. Explore the the theater’s storied past as it is all decked out in its holiday best and sing-along to a selection carols as well as live organ accompaniment to a special festive silent comedy. The Town of Thunderbolt will host this free community event – Christmas on the Bluff – on Sat. Dec. 9 2023, 4-7PM.
Festivities will begin at 4 pm and include: photos with Santa, live entertainment, cookie decorating, ornament decorating, vendor village, food trucks, culminating with the lighting of the Town’s Christmas Tree.
Vendors, food trucks and activities will be set up at 3107 River Drive, next to River Drive CrossFit.

Savannah’s Lighted Christmas Parade 2023 is Sat. Dec. 9
Lighted Christmas Parade in downtown Savannah will be 5:30-7PM Sat. Dec. 9.
The parade starts @ Plant Riverside District on the west end of River Street, goes down to the east end, then winds its way downtown for the entire community to enjoy.
The parade features community floats, cars, trolleys, walking groups.
Thanks to generous sponsorship by the Bluffton Firefighters Foundation, Bluffton Township Fire District is now able to provide real-time tracking of Santa Claus as they escort him around the community this Holiday 2023 Season.
Bluffton Township Fire District is finalizing routes and schedules and will have them available next week so you can mark your calendar to watch for Santa coming to a neighborhood near you!

Savannah’s new toy store The Magical World of Toys is having a case of the missing cake detective nights throughout the month of November to celebrate Neighborhood Toy Store Month.
This is a free event for kids aged 4 to 10. There is only space for 10 families a night, so RSVP to reserve your spot.
Kick off the holiday season with Telfair’s annual tree lighting celebration sparking joy and bringing the community under one roof.
A hot cocoa bar, delicious cookies, and children’s art activities will take place in the Telfair Academy.
Be sure to pick up holiday gifts in the museum shop—especially brilliantly colored Delftware ornaments representing Telfair’s three sites are waiting to go to good homes.
The holiday tree will be on view until Jan. 8, 2024.
This free event starts @ sunset about 5:45PM and runs from Alder Lane-South Forest Beach to Lowcountry Celebration Park on Hilton Head Is.
The only requirement to participate is having a lantern. Lineup for the parade begins at 5PM at the Alder Lane Beach Access. The parade starts 5:45 PM, right after sunset, and travesl north along South Forest Beach up to Coligny Beach Park.
Spectators can watch along the beach anywhere between Alder Lane and Coligny Beach Park.

City Market transforms into a wonderland filled with holiday music and delights. Throughout the entire month, immerse yourself in the holiday spirit with Holiday Nights in City Market! Visit with Father Christmas: Bring your little ones for a visit and photo with Father Christmas.
Youth who are blind or visually impaired are invited to the Savannah Cultural Arts Center for a guided tour of the center’s gallery exhibition, Beyond Sight. Beyond Sight is a multisensory exhibition that invites visitors to experience art on a deeper level through touching, hearing, and interacting with the artwork.
Following the tour, there will be an interactive workshop with one of the artists from the exhibition.
Siblings and friends of all abilities are welcome, space permitting.
This free event will take place at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center located at 201 Montgomery St.
