Portfolio Builder Youth Drawing

This class is designed to help upper elementary and middle school students improve their drawing skills. Students will develop an understanding of foundational drawing; a great class for students to develop their art portfolios.

In this five-week class, students will build their own videogames through exploration and play while learning the programming tool Game Maker. This class is suited for beginner- to intermediate level participants with adventurous personalities. No programming experience is required.

FREE Georgia Day Parade 2020, Savannah

Educators & students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in the Georgia Day Parade on Fri. Feb. 21, 2020. As part of the annual commemoration of the founding of the Georgia colony by James Edward Oglethorpe, a tradition dating back to the earliest years of the colony’s founding, students, local dignitaries, musicians, & costumed performers will march through Savannah’s historic squares. Free, lottery-funded Pre-K for 2020-2021 school year

This free, state-funded Pre-K at some Savannah-Chatham public schools is open to all children who are 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 residing in Chatham County.

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has 63 Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K classes.  See the list of Savannah-Chatham public schools that offer the free Pre-K here.

Pre-K applications for the free, lottery-funded Pre-K programs for 2020-21 at Savannah-Chatham County public schools will be available online here on Tues. February 18 2020.  The online application will close on a date TBA here.

The 2020-2021 Lottery will run in April 2020.

This free, state-funded Pre-K is open to all children who are 4 years old on or by Sept. 1. Details here.

Get tickets now for Coastal Heritage Society’s 2020 “Night at the Museum” event on Sat. Jan. 25 2020 @ Savannah History Museum, 303 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The annual event takes visitors through night guard training and then on a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum.

Guests will be able to interact with historic characters from Savannah History Museum’s exhibits as they appear to magically come to life. This year’s characters include: Casimir Pulaski, Alida Harper-Fowlkes, Susie King Taylor, and many more!

This popular annual event consists of a 90-minute interactive program in the museum. Guests will have the option to choose from two time slots for the program: 5-6:30PM or 6:30-8PM. Event participants will also have two opportunities to view the film “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” at 3 pm and 8 pm. The 98-minute film screening is optional and seating is first come, first served.

Tickets are $12 per person for guests ages 18 months and older. CHS members will receive a discounted ticket rate of $10. Pre-registration for the event is required and tickets for each time slot can be purchased online here.

Your kids can become a Junior Ranger 

Your kids can become a junior ranger at Fort Pulaski.

Junior Ranger booklets have activities about the national parks for ages 5-12. Junior ranger books are free to any visitor and usually are available at the visitors’ centers. Often, similar programs with more advanced activities are also available for older kids. Just ask at the site’s visitor center.

While doing the activities, children enjoy earning a badge and a certificate.
