We all want our children to achieve their academic dreams.

Kumon of Savannah can help all children fulfill their potential by motivating them to achieve more independently.

The Kumon Math and Reading Center of Savannah assists students who are struggling in school and need to catch up, as well as those who want to advance.

Designed for students from pre-school to college level, Kumon helps children master skills in math and reading according to their own ability level.

Students begin the Kumon program at a comfortable starting point and work independently on daily worksheets that follow a naturally logical progression.

To build confidence and self-learning skills, children advance at their own pace in the Kumon Math and Reading Curriculum. Most students attend the Kumon Center twice a week, all year round.

Junior Kumon for preschoolers/kindergartners

Kumon also offers Junior Kumon an early education program for preschoolers and kindergartners, designed to motivate and help them prepare for their first academic challenges in reading and math. Junior Kumon builds children’s pre-literacy skills at an early age by teaching them the letters of the alphabet including shapes and sounds by connecting them with the spoken and written word. Their pre-numeracy skills are fostered by teaching them how to count and write numbers, coaching them to recognize patterns, and providing them with an understanding of basic addition.

Nurturing these abilities allows children to discover a love of learning and become capable, confident, and eager students.

A must-see: “Seussical the Musical” at Savannah Children’s Theatre, Savannah

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

Who would have guessed the guy who was born to play The Cat in the Hat in “Seussical the Musical” was right here in Savannah? At The Savannah Children’s Theatre, no less!

Tyler Daugherty is a hit as that rascally striped-hat-sporting cat.  We checked out the show this weekend and urge you not to wait until the final weekend to take your kids, as it is so fun and entertaining, it’s sure to be sold out.

Tyler is among an amazing, talented 60-member cast that includes all your favorite Seuss characters including such standouts as Vann Doubleday playing the warm, dependable, loyal Horton the Elephant; Lauren Baxter as Gertrude McFuzz; and Ali Wambold as Mayzie.

This musical is truly for all ages. My 3 & 5 year olds loved it and there were even younger children the audience who watched the entire 2-hour show which includes an intermission. (Bring cash. Popcorn & concessions are sold at the non-profit theatre.)

The Mainstage production features both adult and children performers, along with a live six-member orchestra. Showtimes: Jan. 27-29 and Feb. 3-5. Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. The Savannah Children’s Theatre’s Mainstage productions are the theatre’s biggest shows of the year and are so popular they typically sell out by the final weekend.

Tickets can be purchased at www.savannahchildrenstheatre.org or at the theatre, 2160 E. Victory Drive, Crossroad Shopping Center, next to the Piggly Wiggly. 912-238-9015.

If you leave the theater so inspired by the The Savannah Children’s Theatre‘s craft, that you want to sign up your kids, check out the Spring 2012 theatre classes the theatre offers:
