S.P.A.C.E. Visual Arts Classes Now Registering in Savannah
Fiber weaving, sculpture and stained glass box making among new offerings

Savannah’s Place for Art, Culture and Education (S.P.A.C.E.) is now registering students for its winter/spring visual arts classes and workshops. Day and evening sessions are offered for children, teens and adults in all skill levels. Sessions begin January 7 and are held at the Department of Cultural Affairs S.P.A.C.E. studios, located at 9 W. Henry St.

Six week classes are available, as well as weekend workshops. Visual arts sessions include ceramics, metals, glass, fibers, painting and drawing. New offerings include a loom making and fiber weaving, sculpture, parent and teen wheel-throwing and a stained glass box making workshop.

Class fees include instruction, use of studio space, use of equipment and all materials and tools required. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Credit cards are accepted. Registration forms are available online at www.savannahga.gov/arts  or by calling (912) 651-6783.

Ornament Workshop

Looking for something to do with family and friends during the Thanksgiving weekend? Enjoy the holiday season together while you make clay ornaments. Each participant will receive a large rolled out soft slab of clay with which they will make 10-15 ornaments using cookie cutters. They can decorate their ornaments with stamps and texture tools. They will be fired in the kiln and ready for pick up within two weeks. At home, the ornaments can be spray painted with gold, or hand painted with acrylics and glitter.

Scribble Art Studio in Savannah is a fun, creative spot to celebrate your child’s birthday party.

Art Parties are $150 for 2hrs. and accommodate up to 20 guests comfortably.

Parties include mural, painting, and craft all designed around the birthday boy/girl’s chosen theme, supplies are not included but usually run between $40-$60 depending on the number of guests. You will not be charged for unused supplies and  artist Carrie Christian, owner of Scribble, is happy to work within a budget.

Parents are responsible for refreshments and paper products, however Scribble Art Studio now offers all
inclusive party packages, inquire for details.

Ticket sales begin this Monday Oct. 10 for DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at Savannah Art’s Academy.

Savannah Arts Academy’s Theater Department in collaboration with the departments of Choral Music and Dance are proud to present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast as their 2011-2012 musical. Tickets may be purchased in the school office from 9:00 – 2:00 Monday through Friday.

Performance dates are as follows:
Thursday, October 20 @ 7 pm
Friday, October 21 @ 7 pm (Dinner Theater begins at 6:00pm w/ reserved seating in the theater)
Saturday, October 22 @ 7 pm (Dinner Theater begins at 6:00pm w/ reserved seating in the theater)
Sunday, October 23 @2:30pm

Tickets are: $25 for dinner theater and reserved seating in the theater; $10 for adults; $7 for students and senior citizens.
