This summer, the Savannah Cultural Arts Center is offering a new arts camp for youth who are blind or visually impaired. Projects will include ceramics, sculpture, tactile art making, music, movement, theatre and more, designed especially for these students.
June 5th-9th 2023
Open to rising 1st – 8th graders

Savannah Cultural Arts Center is located at 201 Montgomery St.
Housed in the former ArtZeum and other galleries on the south end of the Jepson Center for the Arts, the two-story CAM will build personal connections for children and youth to Telfair Museums, Savannah’s historic district, and the artist experience. There will be hands-on experiences with a wide range of art-centered disciplines.
The space will incorporate Telfair’s growing permanent collection to encourage understanding and appreciation of a diverse array of artists and modes of expression. There will be interactive kiosks that guide young visitors through key ideas and concepts, as well as check-out art kits that inspire family-centered learning and making.
CAM also will allow the museum to expand its programming.
Telfair members will be the first in line to experience this new technology-based space, and we hope you will join us for the member-only experiences on July 8 and 9 2023, 9-11AM. Learn how to become a member here.
Telfair Museums will offer a preview of the brand-new Children’s Art Museum (CAM) before it opens; CAMpers will be the first to experience new interactive exhibits, explore impressionist art, and make immersive art installations.
This five-day, half-day CAM Summer Camp for ages 7-10 will present engaging projects that include; creating environments using projections and shadow puppets and exploring design principles such as shape, color, movement, and repetition.
The Mosaic Church & Preschool in Savannah will offer a full-day, eight-week summer day camp for children and youth in Savannah, June 5-July 28. The camp will be Mon.- Fri. 8:30AM to 4:30PM. Before and after care provided.
Children and their families will gain: the benefit of daily positive interactions, new understandings of the importance of character development and physical activity.
Enrollment is open to all children ages 5-13. Each week, your child will focus on a different aspect of character development. Children will be grouped by age; 5-7, 8-10, 11-13.
There will be classes in character development using music, art, nutrition, computers, outdoor games, field trips & special guests. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided daily.
In addition to weekly day camps, JEA Camp Savannah offers specialty summer camps on certain weeks including Ultimate Sports Camp for ages K-5th grade.
Each day, campers will rotate through instructional sessions of core/secondary sports.
Campers will learn techniques, develop skills and advance their abilities. The goal is to have campers learn in a fun and active environment with an emphasis on sportsmanship, confidence building and mutual respect.

Sign up now for Neighborhood Comics comic art summer camps! From zines to career options, Neighborhood Comics will walk through the steps from inspiration to creation to publication.
For grades 6 and up.
These three classes will present unique concepts, processes and methods for creating comic books.
All classes are half-day and will be held at Neighborhood Comics’ southside Savannah Clubhouse location (1116 E. Montgomery Cross Rd Savannah, GA 31406). All classes have a minimum size of 8 students. If that minimum is not reached, the course will be canceled and fees refunded.
Comic Art Careers

This one-week seminar focuses on the technical aspects of working in the comic book industry. Each day covers a different topic, including the four main principles of comic art (penciling, inking, coloring and lettering) as well as related topics such as anatomy, perspective and dynamic page layouts. Camp includes individualized student critiques or reviews from working comic artists. Basic art supplies (pencils, pens, paper etc) are provided at the studio.
Takeaways: Custom sketch book, 10 comic books, class notes, 12-page original comic featuring the student’s work.
Zines and mini-comics are an inexpensive, effective medium to convey short stories, political opinions, satire and fandom. This course focuses on the history of zines and zine making techniques on a budget. The class will examine self-published works and students will develop a minimum of 3 different zine concepts during the week, one of which will be created in multiples. Basic art supplies (pencils, pens, paper etc) are provided at the studio.
Takeaways: Custom sketch book, 10 comic books/zines, class notes, 3+ self-produced zines plus multiples.
Over the course of this one-week seminar, students will learn the basics of storytelling through sequential art. This includes development of concept, plot, pacing, conflict and resolution. Note: This class focuses on crafting stories, not art style or technical skills. Basic art supplies (pencils, pens, paper etc) are provided at the studio.

Horse camp @ Red Gate Farms in Savannah is a spectacular week-long event including daily horseback riding lessons teaching basic horse care and horsemanship, arts and crafts, recreational games/activities, daily picnic on the farm, trivia, and more.

In partnership with the Society of Women Engineers, this summer program @ Georgia Tech Savannah campus is designed to inspire the next generation of female engineers through hands-on projects and presentations led by local industry experts.
This program features field trips, projects, and presentations from many different engineering fields.
It is a great way to expose students to the many engineering paths.
This program takes place on the Georgia Tech Savannah campus June 5-9 2023.
During this week-long program by GT CEISMC (Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing), students will learn about where products they see every day are manufactured and how they are transported all over the world.
Led by supply chain and logistics experts and industry representatives, the program will be taught through projects, industry tours, and games that are sure to be fun for everyone!
Due to the summer holidays, camps will run slightly differently this year, with half day teen, high school, and specialty camps happening on the shorter holiday weeks.
The full-day arts camps for 1st – 6th graders will run every other week (even camp weeks).
