This event presents a unique opportunity for your students to acclimate into the art world as observers and creators. While they feed their creative minds among the exhibitions, they’ll meet other students and foster lasting community connections.
What to expect:
Artist appreciation: Encounter the work of diverse artists while touring the SCAD Museum of Art’s galleries with a museum educator.
Artmaking: Express creative ideas at interactive art stations equipped with the necessary materials and guidance to create art inspired by work seen in the museum.
Build community: Connect with other homeschooling families who share a passion for art and education.
Learn as you go: Deepen your appreciation for the world of visual expression while learning more about art styles, social significance, and the use of varied materials.

Come to Savannah Children’s Museum for Bug Fest, the annual family-friendly celebration buzzing with bug-themed crafts, activities, and workshops. The event will be Sat. April 20, 10AM-1PM at Savannah Children’s Museum, 655 Louisville Rd. Savannah, GA 31401.
Savannah Children’s Museum educators will be delivering exciting programs, such as the eat-a-bug club, insect activities, and many other creepy-crawly programming throughout the day. We will also have many community partners providing bug-filled fun as well!
Admission to Bug Fest is included in the cost of regular admission to Savannah Children’s Museum, $10 for all guests 18 months and older.

Telfair Museums’ PULSE Art + Technology Festival is back with a focus on the museum’s new immersive, technology-focused Children’s Art Museum, local artists’ AI art projects, and STEAM activities for children and families.
PULSE features a tech-focused talk for students, a Friday night AI film screening with cool tech projects by local artists, and a free family day.

Come enjoy an evening of projections, cool tech projects by local artists, and a classic anime feature. Art projects by Savannah-based artists will include large-scale projections by Will Penny and John Colette, and an exhibition of media art and interactive works made with AI. At 6pm, enjoy a screening of the classic animated feature Metropolis (107 minutes, 2001). Spectacular visuals highlight this acclaimed Japanese anime by director Rintaro, set in a futuristic, regimented society where human and robots are at odds. The film is rated PG-13.

Families are invited to enjoy a day of free admission to the Jepson Center in Savannah for area local residents to experience tech-based and interactive art projects and demonstrations by local artists and a special performance by Tybee Ballet Theater.
*Free admission for residents of Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, Jasper, and Beaufort Counties.
Investment for Free Family Days is provided by the City of Savannah, the Georgia Council for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Colonial Group, Inc.
Historic figures throughout the museum will appear to come to life as visitors interact with them
Make plans now to experience the annual Night of the Museum event on Jan. 27 2024 @ the Savannah History Museum.
During a 90-minute interactive program, guests will be trained as honorary night guards and taken on a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum. In addition, historic figures throughout the museum will appear to magically come to life as visitors interact with them.
Guests can choose between two sessions for the 90-minute event at either 5pm to 6:30pm or 6:30pm to 8pm. The museum will also screen a showing of the film “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” at 3pm and 8pm.

Enjoy free admission to participating historic sites, house museums, art museums, and other points of interest throughout Georgia open their doors for an exceptional opportunity to experience the history in our own backyard.
This popular living-history program explores life in eighteenth-century Georgia through cooking, dancing, craft, and military demonstrations. Fees may apply.
While at Wormsloe, check out the new Wormsloe Visitor Center (pictured above), a 6,000-square-foot building with a large patio with fireplace, gift shop, meeting space and introductory information about the site. Repurposed materials include slate roofing material from a historic dock, as well as an iron gate from the 1930s formal gardens.
A new trolley system will be operated out of the visitor center to take guests down the iconic 1.5-mile Live Oak Avenue which will help protect the historic trees from frequent auto traffic. The reduced traffic will also be an added benefit for those photographing the famous lane. Visitors will soon be able to rent bicycles to pedal down the avenue. New landscaping includes native plants, young cypress trees and live oaks, and a water feature.
While visiting Georgia State Railroad Museum, be sure to purchase entry to visit Savannah Children’s Museum, too, which is right next door.
Savannah Children’s Museum is an outdoor, two-level space, built within the former Central of Georgia Railway repair facility and adjacent to Georgia State Railroad Museum. The museum features learning-through-play exhibits including an exploration maze, a reading nook, building blocks, a nature kitchen and scavenger hunt.
Open Wednesday through Sunday from 9AM-3PM.
SCM will have special opening Mon. Jan. 15 in because schools will be closed in honor of MLK Jr Day.

Savannah Santa Train 2023 – one of the largest annual holiday family events in the Lowcountry – is Sat. Dec. 9 2023 @ Georgia State Railroad Museum & Savannah Children’s Museum, 655 Louisville Rd., Savannah.
Festive activities and entertainment include a holiday-themed diesel locomotive train ride experience, Tin Soldier training, crafts and historic children’s games, live performances, a visit from Santa Claus & more.
Savannah Santa Train is hosted each year by Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum. Tickets are $20 per person for all guests age eighteen months and up and online pre-registration is required here.
Train rides are available every fifteen minutes, so please select a time to reserve your seat.
Reminder: Did you know that your scheduled train ride is NOT your start time for the event? You can begin your day at Santa Train at any time – come as early and stay as long as you like for a full day of holiday cheer!
