Archery*: Hour-long slots available during the hours listed. Learn the basics of archery and test your skills on the range. This program will cover basic safety and technique. Equipment provided. Participants must be at least 10 years old. $10 per person. Please call (912) 598-2300
to reserve your hour in advance. Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early to check in at the archery range.

Backyard Birding: Join a ranger in our bird watching area behind the Visitor Center. We will identify and discuss the native bird species that live in the park and may also be found in your own backyard. Bring your own binoculars or borrow a pair from us.

DIY Birdfeeder: Birdfeeders provide an energetic boost to the diets of local and migrating birds looking for a hearty meal. Make your own to take home while watching our birdfeeders. Please note: peanut butter is one of the main ingredients used. Meet behind the Visitor Center at the picnic tables. $3 per person.

High Tide Hike: Coastal Georgia experiences relatively large, regular high and low tides. Join us for a short walk and talk on the tides and hear about the forces that cause this phenomenon and its ecological benefit to our coast. Please wear shoes that you do not mind getting wet or muddy as the trails can flood at high tide. Meet at the Big Ferry Trail.

Jewels of the Marsh: Diamondback Terrapins: The diamondback terrapin is the only turtle that lives specifically in brackish water. It is a keystone species in the saltmarsh ecosystem. Come join us for a closer look at this jewel of the marsh. Meet in the Interpretive Center for a 30-minute program and see our two live diamondback terrapins.

Marsh Hike: Meet up with a ranger for a guided hike along our coastal salt marshes, take in the sights and sounds of island scenery, and learn about this important ecosystem. The trails are near the water and can be muddy in some spots, so please wear sturdy shoes. Meet at the Sandpiper Trail behind the Visitor Center for this one-mile hike.

Paint a Passerine: Fly on over to the Interpretive Center and paint a picture of one of the many perching birds that can be found at the park! Materials provided. Beginners and all ages welcome. $4 per painter.

Plant ID Hike: Spring has sprung, and there are many new shoots, leaves, and flowers to observe. Join a ranger for a 1-mile hike to view, identify, and learn about the native plants that grow in our park and the surrounding area. Meet at the Big Ferry Trailhead.

Read with a Ranger: Young children will enjoy getting out for this hour of interactive reading. Listen to nature stories perfect for children with a love of the outdoors. Meet at the Interpretive Center.

Roving Ranger: A ranger will be roving the trails to answer your questions about local flora, fauna, and more. Scrappy Sculptures – Earth: Celebrate Earth Day while transforming upcycled materials into a beautiful keepsake sculpture. All materials and instruction provided. $5 per person.

Snakes of Skidaway: Drop by the Interpretive Center to meet, touch, and learn all about one of our ambassador snakes: eastern rat snakes, corn snakes, an eastern garter snake, or an eastern king snake.

Unboxing the Box Turtle: Come meet some of our most elusive residents, the box turtles, and learn about their habits and amazing characteristics. Meet in the Interpretive Center.

Come to Oatland Island Wildlife Center for a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt and fundraiser for Oatland Island Animal Care on Saturday, April 4!

Bring the family for a morning of eggs, animals, and activities while helping support the wildlife that call Oatland home.

Easter Egg Hunts:

Coastal Heritage Society has opened its first indoor space, the new STEAM Center at Savannah Children’s Museum, giving families a year-round place to explore hands-on learning.

The STEAM center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is included with regular museum admission.

The debut exhibition, Numbers in Nature, highlights the mathematical patterns found throughout the natural world. Through interactive STEAM activities, visitors can explore how numbers, shapes, and symmetry appear in everyday environments.

At the center of the exhibit is a 1,800-square-foot Mirror Maze filled with repeating triangles, reflections, and visual illusions that challenge visitors to find their way through while discovering how patterns and geometry work together.

Located inside the historic 1925 Storehouse on the museum campus, the new STEAM Center expands Savannah Children’s Museum’s mission to spark curiosity, creativity, and exploration for young learners.

Nature programs at Tybee Island Marine Science Center

The Tybee Island Marine Science Center offers a dynamic marine science and nature-based experience for island visitors, school groups, and scout troops all year round.

Come learn about Georgia’s marine life and coastal ecology.

Check out the center’s coastal galleries full of live animal exhibits, interactive stations and life-size animal replicas, plus a fossil room, pirate ship playground, and more!

Tybee Island Marine Science Center is closed on Tuesdays for tank maintenance, but these public Walks, Talks, and Treks and group programs are available every day.

Train rides at Savannah’s Georgia State Railroad Museum in March 2026 are Wednesday, March 18th through Sunday, March 22nd; Wednesday, March 25th through Sunday, March 29th.

Train rides are hourly 10AM-3PM (10AM, 11AM, 12PM, 1PM, 2PM, and 3PM )

Come to Oatland Island Wildlife Center for a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt and fundraiser for Oatland Island Animal Care on Saturday, April 4!

Bring the family for a morning of eggs, animals, and activities while helping support the wildlife that call Oatland home.

Easter Egg Hunts:
