Reinterpret ideas of belonging at SCAD MOA Teen Night workshop with artist Barthélémy Toguo
Join exhibiting artist Barthélémy Toguo for a special tour of his exhibition Urban Requiem. Following the tour, the artist will lead a postcard-making workshop based on themes of exile and belonging, issues the artist explores in his own artistic practice.
Admission to the workshop is $10. All skill levels welcome. Boxed dinner provided.

Seuss Fest is back!
On Sat. March 5 2022, local families are invited to celebrate the fun and whimsical world of Dr. Seuss during Seuss Fest.
Event attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character in honor of the children’s book author.
The event will take place from 10AM-1PM @ Savannah Children’s Museum, 655 Louisville Rd. Savannah, GA 31401.
Museum educators will lead the group with Seuss stories, games, and activities. Dancing Oobleck, a Read-A-Thon, and a rhyming scavenger hunt maze are only a few of the fun activities in which families can participate.
Community partners will provide Seuss-filled fun throughout the day. Savannah Tree Foundation and Live Oak Public Library will participate with tree saplings and games. The Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah will have several interactive activities including crafts, games, and healthy snacks. The University of Georgia Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant will bring their Yertle the Turtle touch tank. Savannah Children’s Theatre will share performances from Seussical the Musical. The Big Cheese food truck and Savannah Square Pops will also be on-site.
Admission to Seuss Fest is included in the cost of regular admission to Savannah Children’s Museum, $8 for all guests 18 months and older. Admission can be purchased online here ahead of time.

Five of Coastal Heritage Society’s museums in Savannah will be open for Presidents Day on Mon. Feb. 21 2022.

We’re happy to see the return to Jepson Center’s family drop-in studio activities on Saturdays and Sundays from 10AM-1PM. Jepson Center staff will offer 4-5 activity options, and a studio assistant will be on hand to assist. Open to all ages! Work at your own pace and comfort level, we encourage exploration! Studio occupancy may be limited.
Each day of spring break, the museum will offer Drop in studio with featured activities for kids and their parents looking to Unleash their creativity. A studio assistant is always on hand to answer questions and assist guests. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Toddler Tuesday is a program for 1-4 year old children and their caregivers that focuses on one of Oatland’s animals, or a relevant nature theme. The program includes: singing, fingerplay, a story, an encounter with one of our animals, and a take-home craft.
Sessions are offered twice on Tuesdays from 10-10:30AM & 11-11:30AM and registration is required. There are a limited number of spaces so reserve early!
UPDATE: Cost for the program is $5 for children and $5 for adults.
Registration is made online, but the program fees will be paid at the front booth on the day of, and not in advance, so please, if you know you won’t make your reservation, please call and cancel so organizers can open the space for someone on the waitlist.

FREE 10th Annual Fit Kids Fest, Sat. Feb. 19 2022 @ Savannah Children’s Museum
Annual event promotes wellness for K–12 students
Junior League of Savannah will host its annual 2022 Fit Kids Fest at a new location: the Savannah Children’s Museum, on Sat. Feb. 19 2021.
This engaging free event teaches the importance of growing a fit body and mind through a fun and interactive day designed for children of all ages and their parents.
This engaging event promotes overall wellness for K–12 students and introduces participants to academic resources in the community in addition to teaching how to make healthy choices and live an active lifestyle. Activities for the 2022 Fit Kids Fest will include free, full access to the Savannah Children’s Museum including a life-size maze, slides, and sensory garden; a healthy scavenger hunt; a trail mix remix station; and face painting.
The first 150 children to arrive will receive a free t-shirt and other swag items. Raffle prizes, including sports equipment, will be awarded to participants. The Savannah school with the most students in attendance will receive a cash prize for sports/PE equipment.

Over the course of the two workshops, instructor Matthew Adams will walk students through the basic steps and rhythms of juggling, building confidence as well as athletic ability. This is your chance to learn a fun and rewarding hobby.

Digital Photography Class

Develop your young person’s skills as a photographer. All young people are artists. With that in mind, this class will approach photography as professionals do, studying the Elements of Art. Keeping a social distance, the camp will meet outside as much as possible as we explore our environment in Telfair Square and other nearby locations. Class will use DSLR digital cameras and learn about exposure, and a few historical methods involving film. Photography is fun and accessible to everyone. REGISTER ONLINE HERE.

This year’s SCAD MOA Super Museum Sunday event includes a special screening of the SCAD-produced documentary A Thousand Miles and Counting, which explores the historic journey of William and Ellen Craft as they traversed the country — including the site where the museum now stands — in pursuit of freedom from enslavement. A mini workshop for school-aged children related to themes and ideas in the film also is presented.
On Sun. Feb. 6, 2022, explore some museums and historic sites for FREE in person and online during a unique Super Museum Sunday experience. This is an annual free admission event.
