Get on stage this summer with Performing Arts camps at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center! Each week you’ll dive into a theme to learn behind the stage magic and on stage performance. Each week ends with a mini showcase for family and friends.

July 12: Spellbound Enchantment | Ages 6-8 and 9-12
Visit fantastic new realms as you act, dance, and imagine your way through some of Broadway’s favorite magical shows!
July 19: Adventures on the High Seas | Ages 6-8 and 9-12
Dive into the worlds of Little Mermaid and Moana with song, dance, and arts activities that are sure to make a splash!
July 26: Make a Scene | Ages 13-17
Teen actors will spend the week exploring all things theatre, developing skills in improv, script writing, performance technique, and stage design.

Free Family-Friendly Event to Feature Live Music, Cirque Performances, Riverfront Cookout and More

“Savannah Salutes” Memorial Day Celebration from Fri. May 28 through Mon. May 31 @ Plant Riverside, Savannah. The family-friendly patriotic event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at Plant Riverside, located on Savannah’s historic riverfront at 400 W. River St.

The four-day event at Plant Riverside District will offer free live music from 1- 4PM and 7-10PM daily as well as performances by Savannah Cirque and food and drink options for all ages.

Additional highlights include performances by Savannah Cirque on Fri. May 28 and Sat. May 29 at 8:30PM and 9:30PM and on Sun. May 29 at 8:30PM in Montgomery Park. Plant Riverside District will also present nightly fountain shows in Martin Luther King, Jr. Park featuring patriotic music and a salute to the U.S. armed forces.

Throughout the holiday weekend, Plant Riverside District’s iconic smokestacks, fountains and other familiar landmarks will be illuminated with red, white and blue lights after dark. Food and drink specials will be available for purchase. Picnic blankets will be available for purchase for Memorial Day picnics

Savannah Philharmonic family friendly concert ‘Phil the Garden’ on Father’s Day June 20

The event will feature local food trucks, a station where kids can create their own instruments, and a concert full of crowd-pleasing favorites.

The Savannah Philharmonic will be closing its 2020/21 season in style with an outdoor pops concert on Father’s Day on Sunday, June 20 on the amphitheater lawn of the Metal Building at Kehoe Iron Works/Trustees’ Garden.

The grounds will open at 5:30PM for preconcert activities and the concert will begin at 7PM. The event will feature local food trucks, a station where kids can create their own instruments, and a concert full of crowd-pleasing favorites.

Before the concert, kids of all ages (or kids at heart) can create their own instruments with the help of the Telfair Museums, and local food trucks will be on site so the whole crew can enjoy a treat.

In case of rain, the event will move inside The Metal Building. Blankets and lawn chairs welcome.

Tickets are $10 each.

On Sun. May 2, 2021, explore some museums and historic sites for FREE in person and online during a unique Super Museum Sunday experience. This annual free admission event that normally happens in February every year was moved to May this year due to the pandemic.

Pandemic-related capacity and programming restrictions apply.

Hours for Super Museum Sunday are noon– 4PM unless other times are noted.

Participating museums in Savannah include  Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center for the Arts and the Telfair Academy — free to the public from 10AM-5PM. Because of public health considerations, the Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters will not be open that day.

Oatland Island Wildlife Center in Savannah is free. Pre-registration required. Register online here.

Picasso to Hockney: Modern Art on Stage Free Family Weekend at Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center, Savannah

Savannah and Chatham County residents are invited to visit the Jepson Center free of charge during this three-day weekend April 16-18 2021 to experience the exhibition Picasso to Hockney: Modern Art On Stage.

From 10AM- 5PM Friday through Sunday, the museum will offer free admission to the large contemporary art space on Telfair Square, in partnership with the City of Savannah. Face masks are required, and occupancy limits will be enforced for social distancing.

Take a scavenger hunt based on the exhibition and pick up a free art-making kit for families to enjoy at home. Theater arts and fashion displays by local students will be featured each afternoon.

Visitors to the Free Family Weekend are invited to tour current exhibitions—including the special exhibition Picasso to Hockney: Modern Art on Stage, a partnership with the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio—and explore art activities created by Telfair’s education team, including a limited number of free take-home art kits for children.

Other exhibitions currently on view include Vehicles of Change; Complex Uncertainties: Artists in Postwar America; David Gumbs: From Dust to Gold; and Youthful Adventures: Growing Up in Photography, which closes after Sunday.

Jump into the exciting world of performing arts through the world of Oz! Expand your creativity with the Savannah Cultural Arts Center! New virtual arts classes begin April 5 2021 with brand new offerings for ages 5 and older. Six week session virtual and performing arts classes:

Artist Adventures: Ages 9-12
Art Journaling for Teens: Ages 13 to 17 (FREE)
Teen Clay: Ages 13 to 17
Drama Adventures in Oz: Ages 5 to 7 and 8 to 12
On Stage: Teen Acting: Ages 13 to 15

Solve a mystery through arts activities! This engaging camp encourages participation, creativity, and ends the week with a mystery solved. Camp is offered virtually and in two sessions tailored to different ages.

Ages 8-11 | 1-3PM
