Girls on the Run Here’s a perfect part-time position for a Savannah mom – office & programs manager @ Girls on the Run Coastal Georgia.

Position Profile: The Office & Programs Manager, a part-time position, is responsible for database management, overseeing and purchasing office and program supplies, program dates coordination and evaluation and assistance with special events. Some of the key responsibilities falling within this area include:

Office Management
With support from Executive Director, coordinate all purchases for office supplies.
Oversee purchase, preparation and distribution of all coaching materials for programs. (coach boxes,
t-shirts, water bottles, grown-up guides, coach playbooks, etc.)
Obtain healthy snacks for all sites and hot meals through the Kids Café for 21 Century schools.

Program & Data Management

*With support from Executive Director, coordinate database including but not limited to registration, rosters, donor records and volunteer records.
*Oversee program registration
*Send monthly email communication to database through Emma and update website when needed.
*Coordinate program evaluation for GOTR participants, liaisons, volunteers and families.
*Coordinates site visits (Addy visits) to ensure program quality & consistency and to provide support to coaches

GOTR 5K Event:
Purchase supplies if needed and take inventory after run.
Work with Executive Director and 5K committee to coordinate volunteers and event logistics.

Required Qualifications
BS or BA preferred.
Must display a personal passion for the mission of GOTR.
Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong written and oral communication skills with a range of audiences.
Remain composed under stress and take personal responsibility for delivering on personal and organizational commitments.
Schedule that will allow time in the office even though occasional work from home is fine.
Computer competence, including but not limited to: Google Docs, DropBox, Excel, and email and willingness to learn about Podio and Raceplanner. data system.
Understands and embraces diversity and inclusiveness in thought, word and actions.
Understands and embraces a healthy lifestyle in thought, word and actions.

Position Specifics:
This position reports directly to the Executive Director. Regularly scheduled hours in the office are encouraged even though occasional work from home is certainly acceptable as required by GOTR program scheduling, not to exceed 25 hours per week. The work is busiest during coach recruitment and the start of programs and includes the end-of-season 5K week (typically late April and late November). Hours are flexible during school holidays. Vacation plans should not interfere with the beginning of programs or the 5K. This job will be a stipend or hourly position.

Girls on the Run Coastal Georgia serves Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty Counties in Coastal Georgia. FREE Flannery O’Connor Parade & Street Fair, April 10

You’re invited to a free lively annual celebration of acclaimed author and Savannah native Flannery O’Connor’s birthday, Sun. 1-4PM April 10 2016 in LaFayette Square in Savannah’s Historic District.

Free family fun, live music and more near the Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home, located at 207 E. Charlton St.

The parade starts at 3PM.

Attendees are invited to walk in the parade, bring handmade signs and sing along. Live music throughout the event will be provided by a cavalcade of singer-songwriters and musicians from some of Savannah’s finest local bands. Music for the parade will be played by an all-star line up of the Sweet Thunder Strolling Band.

Costumes inspired by Flannery O’Connor characters, settings or the author’s life are encouraged but optional.

The parade is free and open to the public.

Children will have an opportunity to explore a variety of interests that expound on some of the unique exhibits at CHS museums.

Savannah Summer Camps 2016: Full-Day Art Camp for ages 6-12

City of Savannah Summer Art Camp 2016Need a full-day summer camp for Summer 2016?

City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs presents art camp for students up to age 12 during the summer break. Limited volunteer internship opportunities are available for teens ages 13-18.

Full day art camp is offered to students ages 6-12. Camp students participate in five arts classes a day. The classes may include ceramics, mixed media, puppetry, jewelry, fused glass, improv, music, or dance. All classes are taught by professional artists and art teachers. Friday afternoons parents are invited to view their children’s works in a gallery exhibition or watch a performing arts presentation.

Camp hours: 9AM – 4:30PM.

Camp fees, $150/$140 city resident, include all supplies and instructor fees. All instructors are certified art instructors and/or professional artists. Children are divided into age-appropriate groups of no more than ten students per instructor. A non-spoiling bag lunch must be provided daily for full day sessions and a snack for half-day sessions.

Ages: 6 – 12 year old (currently enrolled in Kindergarten)
Times: Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Fee: per child per session $150/$140 city resident

General Information

Drop Off: (See map for drop-off and pick-up info) Please drop off your children no earlier than 8:30 a.m., unless prior arrangements have been made. Adults/guardians must sign in all camp participants. Students arriving after 9 a.m. must enter camp through the Henry Street entrance and be signed in at the front desk by an adult.

Pick Up: Adults/guardians must sign out all camp participants at the back door. Late fees of $25 will be imposed for pickups between 5:30 pm and 5:45 pm. Students will ONLY be released to the individuals listed on the registration sheet.

Appropriate Attire Reminders: For safety reasons, we suggest tennis shoes. Aprons are provided but we advise dressing your child in clothing appropriate for art making.

Supervised Outdoor Activity Weather Policy: Daily outings are planned to historic Forsyth Park or St. Paul’s gym. Activities will be held in the Cultural Affairs facility in the event of rain or excessive temperatures.

Please send simple, non-spoiling sandwiches, fruit, or vegetables in packaging that your child can open. Make sure that the paper bag/lunch box has your child’s name clearly marked on the front. There is NO access to a refrigerator or a microwave. No food will be provided without prior parental approval.

Registration should be made as soon as possible; class size is limited and spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Camp Registration closes at 2pm the Friday before the next week of camp if there is still availability. Please call to confirm.

If the session is full you will be notified as soon as possible.

Payment

Full payment is due upon enrollment. Cash, checks and credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) are accepted. Registration forms received without payment will not be processed.

Cultural Affairs reserves the right to cancel, to combine or reschedule classes, or to change class instructors, when necessary.

Cultural Affairs will not provide make-up classes or issue refunds to those who miss classes due to illness or other events beyond our control.

Cultural Affairs reserves the right to refuse enrollment to participants with a history of unacceptable behavior.

Cancellations and Refunds

If Cultural Affairs cancels a class for any reason, all registered participants will be informed as soon as possible and extended the opportunity to transfer to another class. If participants do not wish to transfer to another class, a full refund will be processed.

There is a $25 withdrawal and/or transfer fee. Notice of withdrawal or transfer must be made in WRITING to Cultural Affairs, and it must be received by noon the Friday before the first day of class. No refunds will be made for withdrawals after that time.

Failure to attend sessions or verbal notification will NOT be regarded as an official notice of withdrawal.

Portfolio Builder: Drawing Camp
Session A: ages 10–14, May 31–June 3, 9am–3pm
Session B: ages 10–14, July 5–8, 9am–3pm

This four-day camp helps upper-elementary and middle school students improve their drawing skills and begin the process of developing art portfolios. Students focus on measurement, proportion, perspective, and use of value to create volume and space. The camp also includes practice portraiture and sketching from clothed models to create a comprehensive, professional experience.

Master Artist Photography
Session A: ages 10–12, June 6–10, 9am–3pm
Session B: ages 13–16, June 13–17, 9am–3pm

This intensive, weeklong program offers hands-on skills with both digital and manual cameras, exploring black-and-white photography, digital photography, and the basic functions of 35mm cameras. Instructors emphasize the advancements of digital media and Photoshop, while also covering conventional methods of film photography, including pinhole cameras, to supplement the experience. Using the documentary photography exhibition Elvis at 21 as inspiration, this program takes students on “location” shoots in the historic district and culminates with a reception and exhibition of their photographs in the Jepson Center.

Raising STEAM: Technology, Art, and Electronics

This comprehensive STEAM camp allows young people to explore the artistic potential of technology. In this weeklong camp, students use a variety of technologies and methods to create art and express themselves. Students gain skills in 3D printing, Photoshop, and basic computer programming with Arduino microcontrollers. They also learn how to solder their own electronic noise toys, plus much more! This program culminates with a reception and exhibition of participants’ work in the Jepson Center.

Art with the Pros!
Session A: ages 6–10, June 27–July 1, 9am–3pm
Session B: ages 10–12, July 11–15, 9am–3pm

Each day, this weeklong camp features a different local artist providing a unique lesson based on his or her medium of expertise. Lunch in Telfair Square (weather permitting), breaks and games in ArtZeum, and special tours of the galleries are all included. Students learn to give and receive constructive criticism on their art, and the program culminates with a reception and exhibition of student work in the Jepson Center.

Videogame Development
Session A: ages 14–18, June 20–24, 9am–3pm

Full STEAM ahead! In this weeklong camp, students design and build their own videogames! Using open source game-making software, young adults learn the basics of computer programming from scratch, while also getting the chance to invent worlds, create characters, and play games. This summer camp culminates with a reception and exhibition of student videogames in the Jepson Center.

Museum Explorations Pre-K Camp

Stave off the summer doldrums! Exploring Telfair Museums’ three sites and exhibitions has never been so much fun. Each day, participants explore a new exhibit and learn to create the very same type of art seen in the galleries. This program helps children find inspiration through drawing, painting, and printmaking, immersing them in innovative arts lessons taught by professional artists.

Crafters Camp

The ultimate experience for crafty kids, this camp is crammed with a variety of exciting craft projects, including screenprinting, knitting, friendship bracelets, calligraphy, face painting, and much more. In this weeklong camp, students explore techniques in a rich array of crafts to inspire and develop their talents as independent makers.

Videogame Design with Scratch
Ages: 12–14

This summer camp teaches students how to create their own videogames using Scratch, a colorful programming environment that makes it easy to bring interactive stories to life. In class, students collaborate on developing a game from its origin to its final polish. This is a fun and informative way to introduce younger students to the art of videogame design.

Camp in the City summer camp Savannah 2016 Camp is coming to you!

Join Savannah Christian Church this Summer 2016 for Camp in the City.

This is a day camp that is full of activities, great staff and life-changing ministry that happens in a week of camp. Kids will participate in great activities like a climbing wall, water slide, bungee trampoline and much more. They will also experience Jesus through Bible study, worship and time with their counselors.

Who can come to camp? Kids who are going into first through fifth grade in the fall can come to camp.

How much does it cost? The listed price of camp is $254.

When is camp? June 6 – 10 at the Henderson Campus and July 11 – 15 at the Effingham Campus.

What time is camp? Camp is from 9AM – 4PM Monday through Friday. There is a closing program at 4PM on Friday afternoon.

How do I register for camp? Go to pinecove.com/city/savannah-henderson to register your child for the Henderson week of camp.

If you have questions regarding registration please call 1-877-4PINECO.

Can my child be with a friend? Yes. Once you register, you will be instructed to fill out waivers and health forms. When those forms are complete, you will be directed to a form to request your child to be with a friend.

Will transportation be provided? Transportation will be provided to and from camp from the East Campus only. For more information about this, please contact your Children’s Ministry Leader.
