Affordable Savannah kids art classes including Pottery Pig workshop

clay-pigsYou & your child can get your hands dirty in a Piggy Pottery workshop in Savannah.

The Piggy Pottery Saturday workshop 10AM-1PM March 26 is one of many art workshops & classes offered by The City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs.

Class will use basic hand building techniques to make unique sculptures for ages 12+ with a parent or 17+ without a parent.

Registration is open for The City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs Session 2 Visual Arts Classes & Workshops.

Day & evening sessions are offered for children, teens & adults in all skill levels. Sessions begin Feb. 29 & run through April 9.

Classes are @ the Department of Cultural Affairs studios, 9 W. Henry St. in Savannah.

New offerings include fiber techniques, jewelry design, ceramics, and advanced metalsmithing.

Interested in jewelry design? The Tassel Mala Necklace workshop is perfect.

Class fees include instruction, use of studio space, use of equipment & all materials, tools required. Space is limited. Advance registration is required.

Fairy Toad Houses: Parent and Child Clay NEW (UPDATE: This class is full)

Ages 4+ with parent, Sat. March 5, 10am-12pm
Spring is a perfect time to get your garden fairy toad house made. This parent & child workshop gives you the chance to dream up a perfect abode for your garden toad. Class will use basic hand building skills & incorporate unique textures for decoration. All houses can be under glazed with a variety of colors.

Glass Quilt: Fused Glass

Ages 14+, Sat.  April 9, 10am-2pm
Join this fun, hands-on class, open to all levels from the beginner to those who want to learn more about various techniques in fused glass, culminating in a glass quilt. A glass kit with 4 sheets is included in cost, as well as scrap glass.
