Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) will offer a tuition-based Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) program for the 2022-23 school year. Our program is not a Georgia Lottery funded program. Pre-K students will be introduced to appropriate and content-rich academic instruction, which will prepare them for successful entry into Kindergarten.

· Led by a professionally qualified Early Childhood or Elementary Education teacher, supported by a qualified teaching assistant
· Offering the opportunity to benefit from an early learning experience supported by SCA’s core virtues
· Including instructional activities in core subject areas, active learning experiences, and off-campus events
Children enrolled in SCA’s Pre-K program will have priority enrollment into our kindergarten program. A $50 application fee is required.
Children must be 4 by September 1, 2022 to be eligible to attend Georgia Pre-K, which is free. Registration forms are available at the Welcome Center of participating YMCAs.
Tuition-free Georgia Pre-K is offered at the Effingham, Golden Isles, Habersham and West Chatham YMCAs.

The Children’s School at St. John’s Church in Savannah is currently seeking an enthusiastic Pre -Kindergarten Teacher to guide a classroom of four- and five-year-old children in a variety of educational activities including arts and crafts, free play and reading readiness.
Your prime responsibility would be to teach the fundamental concepts in preparation for kindergarten, such as identifying numbers and letters, socializing with others, and working effectively in a classroom structure.
Patience, compassion, and energy are all vital qualities of a successful pre-K teacher. You should be capable of inspiring, encouraging, and developing young children, each of whom will have different abilities, challenges, and personalities. The top candidates will also have a creative mindset and good administrative skills, to plan and execute lessons which are memorable, innovative, and achieve the desired learning outcomes.
The hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30AM until 1:30PM.

Pre-K applications for the 2022-23 school year for Savannah-Chatham public schools will be available from Feb. 15 to March 4, 2022. When completing the application, be prepared to submit your child’s birth certificate and proof of address in the application. Lottery notifications will be sent on April 6, 2022
To participate in the Pre-K Program for School Year 22-23, children must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2022 and must be a resident of Chatham County.
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has 65 Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K classes. The Pre-Kindergarten program provides a full day (6.5 hours) of appropriate instructional services to students for the regular school calendar year. The purpose of the Pre-K Program is school readiness and transition to Kindergarten for success in later school years.

St. Andrew’s School teacher Alexis Watts has been named the Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA) Middle School Teacher of the Year.
On Mon. Nov. 15, GISA Vice President Stan Whitlock presented Watts with the award at the annual conference in Atlanta.
Alexis Watts is the Middle School Dean of Students and teaches 8th grade English at St. Andrew’s. She graduated with her B.A. in English and French and certification in secondary education from the University of Michigan and earned her M.A. in Liberal Studies at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. She has been a part of the St. Andrew’s faculty since 2014.
GISA is a non-profit association of private, independent, and parochial schools throughout Georgia. With 165 schools under GISA, the GISA Teacher of the Year Award is given to a teacher that has demonstrated outstanding teaching and service in the upper school, middle school, or lower school.
