Fairy & Gnome Festival @ Oatland Island Wildlife Center, Savannah

Join Oatland Island Wildlife Center for a day of enchantment! This family-themed festival is all about the “wee folk” getting up close with the natural world and encouraging imaginative outdoor play. There will be a scavenger hunt, costume contest, crafts, and games. All ages are encouraged to participate in the annual gnome and fairy home building contest. Homes can be built at the festival by using natural materials from Oatland’s forest. Bring your whole family to stroll Oatland’s magical trails and maybe you will catch a glimpse of a fairy or gnome looking for a place to call home.

General Admission applies: $5 for adults, $3 for children, seniors and military.
Children 3 and under are free.
There will be addition fees for some activities.

You’re invited: FREE SCAD International Festival, Savannah

Savannah College of Art and Design invites you to the 15th annual International Festival, an event featuring traditional music, dance, art and food to celebrate the diversity of SCAD’s international arts community.

The event is free and will take place 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 6, in historic Forsyth Park between Whitaker and Drayton streets.

Performances by tropical salsa and merengue band Grupo Kachimbos de Savannah, reggae act Mystik NRG and DJ Omar Richardson are among the festival’s highlights. Other events include appearances by SCAD’s global fashion showcase, African folktales as told by Obakunle Akinlana, salsa dancing and belly dancers. Artwork will be available for purchase.

Visitors also have the chance to sample cuisine from around the world. Participating local restaurants providing samples for a minimal cost include Sushi Zen, Carlito’s Mexican Restaurant, Middle Eastern Cuisine, Ruan Thai, Taste of India and Asian River. Food vendors will only accept cash at this event.

The festival is sponsored by SCAD’s international student services office, the Intercultural Student Association and Bon Appétit.

Savannah History Museum will conduct Revolution in Savannah Battlefield Tours Saturday, Monday and Tuesday (March 30, April 1 & 2) at 10:30, 12:00, 1:30, and 3:00. Tours will be led by a costumed historical interpreter and will include an in-depth explanation of the 1779 Revolutionary War Battle of Savannah, an interactive reenactment for kids, and a musket firing demonstration! Revolution in Savannah Battlefield Tours will be included with the purchase of Savannah History Museum admission OR a SEE 3 PASS combination ticket. Details here.

Free tours are 90 minutes each, Tuesday through Saturday from March 19 through May 11, 2013. Savannah Derby Devils 2013 Season (Bouts include kids' half-time events)The Savannah Derby Devils women’s roller derby team are counting down to their seventh competitive season starting April 20 with their debut bout at the Savannah Civic Center.

Season tickets are available until April 20 through the Savannah Civic Center Box Office and through Savannahcivic.com. Adult season tickets are $62, including fees. Season ticket holders get twice the derby for the price, including free admission to the SDD’s public scrimmages at SuperGoose Sports and a bonus bout in October at a location to be announced.

The Derby Devils will return to the Savannah Civic Center arena this year with exciting, family-friendly fun. Each event includes two roller derby bouts starting at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., activities and half-time games for kids, raffles benefiting local charities, concessions and cold beer. Some events will include mini-bouts by the SDD’s little sister league, the Savannah Jr. DerbyTaunts.

Adult tickets for single events are $16. Child tickets for ages 3-12 are $2. Children under 3 are free. Discounts are available for purchasing tickets in advance and for seniors, students, military, groups of 10 or more and members of USARS and WFTDA.

Started in 2006, the Savannah Derby Devils include more than 50 female skaters ages 19 to 40-something as well as male and female referees hailing from across the Coastal Empire. Managed, “by the skaters, for the skaters,” the league consists of two teams: The SDD All-Stars and the Hostess City Hellions. The league is an apprentice member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, the international governing body for the sport.

The league offers 12-week courses for beginners, recreational scrimmaging for experienced players and two annual bootcamp programs in addition to competitive play. For more information, visit www.savannahderby.com or www.facebook.com/savannahderbydevils .

The Island Recreation Association and Hargray are proud to present the 18th annual Wingfest, where over 6,000 lbs of chicken wings will be served. 15 – 20 local restaurants will cook their best wings from 11 am – 6 pm on Saturday, March 23 in a fun-filled, family friendly festive atmosphere. There will be many activities such as a kid’s zone, rock climbing wall and bungee jump. Custom Audio Video provides a big screen television to watch all the March Madness Basketball. Live music from 107.1’s Brad Wells Band, Deas Guyz and the Good Times Band will play while Adventure Radio will be on hand broadcasting all the excitement.

Back again is the People’s Choice Award! Your vote counts but vote before 4 pm when the voting ends. The professional judging for the best wing starts at 12:00 pm. Admission is $5 with children 10 & under getting in free. All event proceeds go to the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association’s Children’s Scholarship Fund, “where no child is denied recreation opportunities.”

Easter 2013: FREE EPIC easter Egg Hunt, Richmond Hill

Join Consumed Church Saturday, March 23rd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for an EPIC Easter Egg Hunt

This event is totally free and will include 10,000 Easter eggs and inflatable slides and bounce houses for all ages as well as face painting and cotton candy! There will be a small fee for hotdogs, chips and drinks. All proceeds will go directly to help fund the mission trip to Haiti this summer.

This FREE event will be at Tiedeman Park (across from Savannah Arts Academy in Ardsley Park)

Come for a fun afternoon of music, games, an egg hunt, and a doggy fashion parade! All dogs are welcome and no need to pre-register to participate, just come on out. TailSpin is offering a $30 gift certificate to the most fashionable dog. The event is sponsored by LifeBridge Church.

This annual consignment sale is now accepting spring/summer children’s clothing (Newborn – Size 14), children’s shoes, maternity clothes, baby equipment, toys, books, etc.!

Thursday, March 21 – Preview sale for volunteers and sellers only
(Volunteers shop 4:30-7:30, Sellers shop 5:30-7:30)
Sale opens to the public Friday, March 22, 9-2 and 5:30-7:30
and Saturday, March 23, 9-12

* Deadline to register to sell items is this Friday, March 15. Click here for more information.
* Deadline to enter inventory into MyConsignmentManager is Monday, March 18 at 11:00 PM. An extra day was added to help you get a few things entered that you might miss due to the hubbub of St. Patrick’s Day. Tag printing is not subject to the deadline.
* If you’ve sold items at other sale which use MyConsignmentManager, you will be able to keep your seller # and transfer inventory without having to reprint tags!
* Little Lambs accepts all brands of clothing, as long as they are gently used; price them to sell!
* As a seller, you will receive 65% of what you sell and have an opportunity to shop the Preview Sale at 5:30 Thursday, March 21st.
* If you also volunteer, you can shop the Preview Sale at 4:30 and have opportunities to increase your profits. See the Little Lambs website for details under “Volunteer.”
