The 63rd annual Greek Festival at the Hellenic Center, 14 W. Anderson St., Savannah

The three-day Greek Festival, sponsored by St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, will feature homemade greek foods, desserts, greek dancing, church tours, market place, a live band and so much more during the three-day celebration of Greek food, music and heritage. Hosted in the St. Paul’s Hellenic Center, our three-day festival attracts thousands of visitors each year. Come to enjoy the food, shopping, music, dancing and atmosphere of the Greek culture

Oktoberfest on the River – Savannah, GA, Oct 4-Oct. 6 2013

Savannah always has an exciting Oktoberfest on Riverstreet. This festival has everything you expect from beer garden, to Oompah band and the popular Wienerdog races.

Kick off the weekend with the opening ceremony and official cask tapping on Friday at 5pm. Don’t forget to stick around for First Friday Fireworks presented by Wet Willie’s at 9:30pm! Live Entertainment will take place on the Arbor Stage each night featuring headlining bands Eric Culberson and Brave Baby.

Enjoy a traditional beer garden offering a variety of German beverages and sing along with the Rhinelander’s Oompah Band! In honor of the 30th year, Savannah Riverfront will host an Oktoberfest themed triathlon. Das Rennen am River Street will feature River Street bars and restaurants competing in a beer stein race, a teenie weenie race, and a keg roll race throughout the weekend!

Don’t worry there is a competition for you too! The annual sausage eating contest presented by Roger Wood Foods and Ambos Seafood will take place on Saturday at 3:30pm. Cash prizes will be available and registration will take place the day of the event. Get ready for swashbuckling fun: the 2013 Tybee Is. Pirate Festival – includes Live Music, Children’s Activities & a Pirate Victory Parade – is set for October 10-13.

Every Columbus Day weekend, Tybee Island transforms into a lively pirate village, celebrating the rich seafaring history that defines the Georgia coast with live music, children’s activities and a Pirate Victory Parade.

The free parade will be 3-5pm Sat. Oct 12. This parade is a must for families. Parade participants will pass out treasure along the route. Tybee Island Maritime Academy will be selling hot dogs, chips, and drinks before and after the parade in the school gym. Please help support this new school!

Highlights for the 2013 Tybee Island Pirate Festival include The Pirate Victory Parade, Scallywags Costume Contest, Little Matey’s Cove, Thieves’ Market and the new Landshark’s Mugs of Mutiny Tavern with live music. The festivities kick off with the coronation at the King and Queen at the Buccaneer Ball at The Crab Shack on Thursday, October 10.

All 2013 Pirate Festival events – with the exception of the parade – will be held at the South Beach parking lot located at Tybrisa Street on Tybee Island, Georgia.

Come to the Hilton Head Island Pumpkin Patch! Bring your child in costume Friday, October 25 2013 to Shelter Cove Park, 39 Shelter Cove Ln, HHI, SC 29928 from 4pm-8pm to kick off your child’s Halloween fun.

This popular children’s festival features activities such as bouncy houses, a costume contest, petting zoo, games, arts and crafts, face painting, candy and a fun hayrack ride through the park. You can also hit the pumpkin patch to pick and decorate a mini jack-o’-lantern! Admission for ages 2-15 is $10/per child and includes nearly all the activities. Parents get in free to enjoy the fun and see their child’s face light up.

What is Play Streets?

Play Streets closes specific streets to traffic on a routine basis and open that space to the community, to encourage physical activity. They offer a high-impact approach to encouraging and increasing physical activity, particularly in neighborhoods that lack sufficient open space for activity. Savannah is one of ten cities nationwide selected as participants in the 2013 Play Streets Series. The series, supported by Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Partnership for a Healthier America, brings public events for families to the streets- giving children and families a chance to be active, and have fun!

This upcoming Labor Day weekend is your last chance to ride the kiddie train @ the 75-ton sand sculpture in the center court of Savannah Mall. The sculpture features a summer animal theme and incorporates some of the animals from the mall’s double-decker carousel.

6th Annual Labor Day Beach Bash to Feature Swingin’ Medallions and Fireworks at Tybee Pier and Pavilion on September 1

Free live entertainment starts at 7 p.m. featuring the Swingin’ Medallions. This high-energy band has performed live with Bruce Springsteen and been featured in the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. The Labor Day Beach Bash fireworks display can be enjoyed from the pier, the beach or anywhere on Tybee Island after dark (around 9:15 p.m.).

Congratulations Bilingual Familia Consulting & International School, which received an honorable mention in Georgia’s first “Small Business Rock Stars” competition, a new program representing the first-ever collaboration of the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA) and the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD).
