Enjoy festival activities and watch as chalk masterpieces emerge from the park’s sidewalks. Winners of the competition will be announced at 4 p.m. The event will also include international food, music, student performances and a celebration of SCAD locations around the world.

This year’s festival includes international cultural offerings, a children’s chalk-drawing area, music and food vendors make this the perfect event for all ages.

Join the High School Competition at SCAD’s Sidewalk Arts Festival 2015

Prospective SCAD students are invited to show off their drawing and design skills by creating temporary chalk masterpieces during the university’s annual Sidewalk Arts Festival. Add a splash of color to the paved walkways of Savannah’s scenic Forsyth Park alongside SCAD students, alumni and faculty.

SCAD undergraduate students, graduate students, alumni and prospective students compete in their respective categories. High School Competition winners will receive a gift card to shopSCAD. Prospective students must currently be in their freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year of high school in order to take part in the competition.

After the event, high school students may take a special tour of SCAD Savannah, which leaves Smithfield Cottage at 2 p.m. The tour offers a glimpse of student life and all that the university for creative careers has to offer. Tour participants will return to the Sidewalk Arts Festival at 4 p.m. for the announcement of winners and to enjoy the festivities, which include cultural activities, international cuisine, music and more.

Originally billed as “the most phatasmagorical musical in the history of everything” CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG is a fantastic musical adventure featuring an out of this world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. For this producation, Savannah Children’s Theatre has a real Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car with hydraulic lifts and wings that open.

It tells the story of the eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts who, with the help of his children, Jeremy and Jemima, and the lovely Truly Scrumptious, sets about saving a former Grand Prix-winning race car from the scrap heap. They soon discover that the car has magical properties, including the ability to float and take flight!

After word gets out about its extraordinary abilities, trouble ensues when the evil Baron Bomburst decides he wants it all to himself, launching Caractacus, Jeremy, Jemima and Truly on a series of high-flying high jinx to save the miraculous motorcar.

Featuring some of Savannah’s most talented adult and child performers, this show is not one to miss! Directed by Kelie Miley, Choreography by Jenn Doubleday, Music Directed by Brandon Kaufman.

Grammy Award-winning Gospel legends, Blind Boys of Alabama, headline the 2015 A-Town Get Down Music & Art Festival. The festival includes performances by over 25 live bands and visual artists. In addition to live performances and exhibits, guests can expect an array of family activities, workshops and jam sessions.

Savannah’s A-Town Get Down is one of Savannah’s fastest growing festivals. Organized by the Alex Townsend Memorial Foundation, it is an interactive Art and Music Festival dedicated to providing access to the arts for Savannah’s youth, inspiring them to discover the confidence and self-esteem that comes with creative self expression. Since the inaugural festival in 2011, A-Town Get Down Music & Art Festival celebrates the life of Alex Townsend, affectionately called A-Town, who tragically died in a car accident on Valentine’s Day of 2011. The event is designed to inspire both established and aspiring musicians and artists.

Pulse Art Technology Festival Savannah PULSE Art + Technology Festival – January 21-25 2015 @ Telfair Museums in Savannah – celebrates inventive, interactive technology-based art

The annual festival invites visitors of all ages to see and learn for themselves how pioneering artists use progressive technology to create transformative electronic art. Open to the public. All PULSE events at Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center for the Arts are free of charge.

Pre-PULSE workshops run from January 16-18 and feature “how to’s” on making an electronic music toy and 3D Printing, along with a demonstration on interactive projection with guests offered the opportunity to try it themselves.

Workshops for youths and adults will provide introduction to technologies from the Oculus Rift virtual reality system to 3D printing, drones, and electronic music.

Guests of all ages can participate in a Free Family Day on Saturday, January 24 from 1-4 pm. Free Family Day will highlight “do-it-yourself” technology projects from the Savannah area.

PULSE offers offsite workshops and programs by local partners including Armstrong Atlantic State University. Workshop participants are able to take advantage of university-grade lab facilities that will enhance their PULSE experience.

Most PULSE programs are free thanks to the City of Savannah and Hargray Communications.

The Collective Face Theatre Ensemble continues its third season with an adaptation of the beloved classic novella THE LITTLE PRINCE by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, adapted for the stage by Rick Cummins and John Scoular.

Stranded, thirsty and alone, a pilot who crash-landed in the Sahara Desert meets an enigmatic, charismatic young prince fallen from the sky who regales him with tales of life among the stars: tales with earthly importance. This delightful adaptation of this classic tale leaves us all with a new understanding of how to laugh, cry and love again.

The Collective Face production features ensemble members Christopher Blair, Zach Blaylock, Eric Salles and Vanessa Stipkovits, with guest artist JinHi Soucy Rand.
