Free celebration of new public park & 650-foot long pedestrian mural outside Enmarket Arena, Savannah

City to Celebrate New Community Space for Westside Neighborhoods

The public is invited to a free Westside Neighborhoods Celebration this Sat. April 13 2024 to celebrate the completion of a new public park and pedestrian mural outside the Enmarket Arena.

The free event will feature food, music, fun activities, games, fresh produce, inflatable bounce houses and a slap shot cage organized by the Savannah Ghost Pirates and manned by their mascot, Davey. A dedication will be held for the largest pedestrian mural in Georgia, created by five different mural groups comprised of Savannah artists.

Following a highly competitive selection process conducted by a panel comprised of representatives from westside neighborhoods and the art community, five artist teams were hired by the City to craft a 650-foot-long mural outside the Enmarket Arena.

Portions of the mural were painted with the help of children from the neighborhood as well as students participating in the Loop it Up program.

The groups of artists included: Team 1, Amiri Farris and Cynthia Collins; Team 2, Adolfo Alvarado; Team 3, Matthew Hebermehl, Katherine Sandoz, Troy Wandzel, Jamie Bourgious; Team 4, Brian MacGregor, Alfredo Martinez, Nae’Keisha Jones, Zay Hutchins; and Team 5, Tara Garrigan, Shay Garrigan, Caroline Rose, Sean Keeth, Olivai Morrison-Bressler, Cortney Fredette, and Tim Patterson.

Organizations participating in the community celebration include the City of Savannah, the Enmarket Arena, the Savannah Ghost Pirates, Forsyth Farmers Market, Farm Truck 912, Bike Walk Savannah, United Way, Live Oak Public Libraries, Goodwill Southeast Georgia, Healthy Savannah, and Cloverdale Civic Improvement Association.
